Try a dab of tea tree oil. I find it works quite well.

Now I find Tea Tree oil to be very uncomfortable on my skin - a bit like lemon juice in a cut. However, I have also heard that Citronella can be carcinogenic when applied to the skin.

More reading needed, me thinks...
