Very inferior. Anyway, we'd been talking the other day, and I mentioned my (late) Nan's Victoria Sandwich with fresh cream, and we all started drooling...

It was Mary Berry's 'bung-it-all-in-together' recipe. I will be making another.

How's the bump on the head?
Love Mary Berry. The first cook book I ever had was Mary Berry's More Fast Cakes. I've still got it, it's an old friend.

Bump was ok, the BH made me put a bag of frozen peas on it, and then I nodded off in the armchair and hit it on the bookcase next to the arm of the chair. Woke me up, I can tell you.

The wind is howling down our chimney also. We haven't heard any trains going past either - think they might be cancelled. It's really, really, blowing a danged hoolie out there, and some. It's still heaving it down too. And freezing cold. More to come on Friday. Hurrah......not

    • HH ....at least with the ring road you can go round in a circle till you get to the right junction , bit like a great big roundabout

Am guessing you need the Plaza carpark on Sat....come off at junction9 , do not take the turn into the city centre but if you go as going back up onto the ringroad keep to your left and there is a slip road leading straight into the carpark. Little tip .....when you go in carpark don't go up ramps to next level instead go down ramp and go towards far end to park . You'll find then that you're nearly at the exit and it's so much easier to get out afterwards with all the rest of the traffic. Also ask the guys at the desk on the way out if you can do a flat rate validation on your ticket. It saves queuing at pay machine on the way out

Right, I'm off to look-see if Mary Berry has a Choccy-brownie recipe, then off to my pit. Sweet dreams all.

        • Had to chuckle today - strange neighbour parks two motorbikes in the road using up a car parking space, even though he has hard standing in the front garden. He was out on the working one today and the spare blew over in a huge gust of wind. He was scratching his head as to how that happened - it was over 200 and something kilos he said. (Not even sure this one was taxed - he keeps it under a plastic cover but these days the cover blows off!) Our road is a hot favourite for folks to park for free and take the train to Paddington by the way- i.e parking is at a premium.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

          • Evening all..
Very stormy here again...Blowing a right hooley outside at the mo..
Came across a number of trees down on the road on my way home from work... Came home to find that our trampoline has again decided it would be better suited being in the farmer's field next to us...

Poor neighbors tho lost a number of their ridge tiles, some slates and guttering...
            Will see what morning brings...

              • The Next-doors headed off to the airport for their hols at teatime today, just when the wind really got going. I would not have fancied taking off in this weather.

The wind died down later. I walked to little Morries up the road for a paper and milk, all bundled up in coat and scarf and hat, and saw a guy out for a run in his hi-vis, running shoes, hat & gloves, and made me feel guilty for bottling out of a run after work.

On the plus side, I came back and cooked lamb shank to absolutely sell your soul for.

Tomorrow's another day - I've left the running shoes out to trip over.

                • Morning Hazel, my little runaway (Del Shannon) sorry, can't resist even at this early hour. Morning All, hope you're not wind and water damaged. It's fairly calm and dry here this morning, but my word it's cold. No frost though, strange. Hope you all have a lovely day

Forgot to say, there was a tree down just up the road from me last night. I felt so sorry for the young policewoman who was stopping each car and explaining why they had to turn around and go back the way they had come. She must have been there over an hour until someone relieved her and during that time she was hit by a flying tent!

Eerily quiet here in Aberdeen this morning. Very light breeze, no rain at the moment and quite dull. Haven't ventured over the doorstep yet so no idea how warm it isn't.

Not that bad here but we certainly had very strong winds and rain.

What a day and night of weather that was and I think the South of Ireland got it worse.. Certainly has been the year of the storm so far...

                          • G'Moooooooooooornin' Peeps - hope everyone survived the night? We're lucky here, in as much as it was bluddy windy, but that was all. We didn't get the snow that they forecast. Today it is calm and sunny, but cold and eerily still.

I'm trying to summon the enthusiasm to call in at my Folks' after the 'email saga' of last week, as I have heard nothing back. G*d will be all sulky and 'innocent' and it'll all be my fault that he was 'sarky' as I will have over-reacted, and why couldn't I just answer the question, bla bla bla - yes, we've been here before. However, this worm has turned, and he's gonna get my 'actual' opinion of his childish behaviour, for once. Ruddy big kid. (And, for the pedants, 'he' doesn't deserve the capital letter, so he didn't get it! )
