        • Nice hair Bren.

BB - have you run inside yet? The sun is out here and HOT! So the stars must be shining over there.

I just went out to empty the coffee grounds and the wall of heat hit me at the doorway, then I'm on here listening to you lot, and thinking, I must buy some wood.....Won't be long tho, and we'll be swapped over.

HH - it is quite stressful starting a new job. Take it easy on your time off.

Back to work for me tonight. Hope all the nice people on nights are on these two nights. Need a nice shift to start back on after the last week before hols.
I need to send off my resume to the other ward for some extra shifts, and chase up paediatrics for the same reason. Only got 8 weeks before my contract is up again, hoping to have had a few other shifts so I can gauge better whether I'll be good going casual in April. New manager approved my 2 weeks leave in May, so if I don't go casual at least I've something in sight to keep me going.

Fire has only increased to 763 ha overnight so that is pretty good. They're putting in containment lines, and if there's no wind today then they might get it under control. And hoping no others start up closer. Only takes one spark from anything -water pump, mower, cigarette, even a petrol engine vehicle in a paddock or a lightning strike. Fingers x'd.

            • It's a lovely morning here, dry sunny and breezy with no threat of rain. I can't imagine looking out of the window and weighing up whether there's a chance of fire today, so good luck Feral hope everything works out okay.

I'm down the allotment shortly, hoping the highest dryest part is okay for a bit of digging, but it might all be too boggy.

                • Happy February Grapelings What a beautiful start to the month! A little bit of white stuff overnight, sparkling on the hills, sun shining, a tickle of wind in the trees and the snowdrops and crocuses are smiling at me in the lawn.

                  • Morning Grapes.

Dank here. We have the tail end of the big storm only down here which is a relief as we are plenty wet enough. Hope it isn't too bad in blighty and the wind is helpful in Feral's patch.

My garlic has finally started to appear after almost six weeks - i'd long given up on it. Phew.

Cake making and then Rugby :-)

                    Enjoy your days.

                      • Nope BB your prize was the trip to foreign climes where you contracted the aforementioned hay fever.

                        • Morning all - it is lovely here - clear blue skies and sunshine! YAY! I fear it will not last as the forecast is for .... guess what ... rain later. However, tomorrow is supposed to be better. I haven't been to my plots for two weeks as the weather has been so ghastly, but there are some benefits to living bang in the middle of the country - no flooding. My heart goes out to all those poor folks in the Somerset Levels - what a shame that they can't swap some of their water for some of Feral's heat. Getting my engagement ring today (yes, I know I got married last year, but it's like a backwards eternity ring - we have been together 20 years in May and OH says it's my reward for putting up with him!!) so I am pretty excited. A local jeweller has made it to our specification - which feels really posh. A bespoke ring! Have a great day everyone.
