    • Son just came out, very happy that they have passed him on his RSA. Thankfully the 45 mins into the next day might have just been allowed due to us being an hour ahead with daylight saving time.
Now he can do the food handling one as well and get himself a job, or 2!

Helicopters have been buzzing over head from time to time today. Have been keeping an eye on the fires when I see them going. Always unsettling, but it seems to be 'Being Controlled' and not spreading int he last day or two. Another one started this afternoon on the other side of town and is still not controlled. Not a danger to us though. The high school is up that end, but I'm sure there's plenty of places they could contain it before there. It's when it's in the mountains with no roads that it gets away so fast. Two helicopters with water buckets headed over us this evening giving me a fright, but they must have been going back to base near the coast.
Daughter and I both forgot we were going to go and do her test for her L plates for driviing today. At least we both forgot

Edited to add: The fire is still not a danger to us but it has gone from 60 hectares to 605 in the last couple of hours. Feel for the people on that side of town.

        • Good morning all - a bit windy here just now and rain threatened for 1100 - a bit of shopping then back to the kitchen with just under half the tiling still to do

In the interests of science, I may have to try that. I may have to work out the carbs and horrify myself first though......

Fez, the speed of that fire is just unimaginable to us very soggy people. Pity we can't send you our floodwaters - we'd be happy to get shot of them, especially to such a good cause.

Right - Morning All! Grey here. No signs of 'Apocalyptic Storm Brigid' as promised by the Hexpress yesterday. Grey, dry and breezy so far. #1 Son reported that the high spring tide was not a problem last evening.

              • We'd love some of your sogginess Jules! They're expecting a storm to turn into a cyclone up in queensland, but there is fires all up the coast of NSW. Just hoping that we keep on being lucky.

A cool breeze is getting going outside but still hot in the house. Will need to check the tanks level tomorrow - I wanted to water the front garden but might not have enough.

                      • Afternoon All......Weather is arriving. Still not sure if hatches need to be battened down, but it's kind of looking that way. Danged miserable at any rate!

New low carb pizza recipe, for a warm lunch, is in the oven as I type. Smells really good!

That cocktail, AIC, has 26g carbs. If I'm good all day I might try one. Not sure if I've got any Bailey's type stuff. Booze cupboard took a hit at the birthday party last week.

Has anyone seen my apron pattern? It has to be in the workroom somewhere. I just need to find 'somewhere'

                        Bren, your hair looks lovely!

                        • Aaaaaaarternoooooon Peeps. Hope those needing watter get some, and those needing rid, get rid. Hope Domino has forgiven you for yesterday's traumatic day, Hazel.

I've been out for a ride, and then took the dogs for a run - blimey they can run. I really would like it to dry up though, as they hate having to be hosed down before being allowed back in the house. More heavy rain overnight, is forecast, too.

Trust me Jules, after a couple or three of those cocktails, you really won't care about carbs at all
