  • Have just bathed the dog - I think I got wetter than she did. Big downside of having a mostly white dog, she gets very grubby!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

    • And the more you bath them, the dirtier they get! Most dogs loathe smelling of something we consider to be 'clean' and will go and roll in something they see as camouflage as soon as they can. There are many dry shampoos on the market, that are quite effective, and some are even non-rinse, which shortens the 'torture' for both of you. I have some doggy wet-wipes, too, which are great.

Personally, I cover my floor with large dark bath towels and let the dirt come off naturally, then brush the residue. It is amazing how self-cleaning most dogs can be. My Folks hose their dog down after a muddy walk, and dry her off with towels, but as soon as she's free, she immediately rolls in something (often only wet grass, thankfully) until she's happy.

Rosie is a little sweetie - I hope she's ruling your life already!?

        • Right, I'm home! Just got to feed the dogs and get ready to go out. Do I feel like going out? No, I feel like vegetating in my jammies.

          • What a coincidence - because I'm home too and have just fed the dogs There would have been no peace until I had
Amazing what happens while I'm away - the hedge and grass has been cut, a big blue barrel has appeared in the garden and the missing greenhouse seal for my neighbour's new GH has been delivered to me by mistake. He will have been unable to get to it but could probably see it in the porch Bet he's been cursing me!!
            Coffi anyone?

Sounds like a great business opportunity here, dog smelling dog shampoo, you could have various odors such as wet grass, stale turd or the ultimate "fox poo shampoo"

                • On the eve of October, man flu alert. Sniffling, sneezing and dopey. I told pops Friday that man flu season would start this week, and he should invest in some more brandy.

Hot teas for me; with Star Trek and counselling course books.

                  • Oh Hobbit I hope you feel better soon. I had a dose of it last week, miserable while it lasted but fortunately it didn't last too long.

Have a dose of Pop's brandy before bed.

                    • Cheers, RL. Might seen how it pans out. The brandy is only ever the last resort! Tea and hot Ribena in the mean time. And lots of them both.

Yes we had a Springer once and whilst on holiday it rolled in fox poo, we were in a caravan at the time, the smell is something you never forget. it took 3 bottles of vosene to wash it all off.

My neighbour has just told me about his new car, a Lexus. Apparently, it has a "smoke" button that you press when there is a bad smell in the car and it disguises it immediately. Perhaps one of those would be useful with smelly dogs

                              • Well I am glad Rosie has not discovered any fox poo on our rambles yet! She is certainly living up to the Springer breed in other ways though!
That reminds me HH - I need to get my winter flu jab booked in.
