For what it's worth, try something that my wife put me onto (she got it from the TV). Before you shave, apply a this smear of baby oil (yes, baby oil) to your beard. Leave for a few minutes. Then apply a reasonably generous amount of baby lotion. Then shave, but DO NOT go against the grain. You get a pretty good shave, no barbers rash and yer face feels good. Seriously, give it a try. Supermarkets own brand baby oil and lotion is perfectly fine.

I do use shaving oil, but I think it's the actual razors. I use M@ch 3 currently, and they seem to be blunt after 1 or 2 shaves, so they cost me a fortune - plus it's all the plastic waste then too.

I dropped the bombshell that I'd forked out a lot of money on some new shaving kit last night to my wife, who took it surprisingly well. Only now am I wonder what she has bought, or is planning to!

My Dad used to have eczema all over his body and often couldn't shave. It was my job, as a kid, to sit on his lap and pluck the hairs from his face. I cringe now, remembering it and how it must have hurt him. So stop whinging Chris or I'll tweeze you next time we meet

Chris, when do you shave? I shave straight after a shower so that my pores are still open, making shaving easier. I do like a sensitive gel.

I also use a mach 3, but I don't change them that often. I used to change them every week, but in compensating for the cost of the OH's hair cuts I know change a blade every 3-4 months.
