Our climate.

I think it's amazing, it can be -17 in winter, with 2foot of snow. Summer time, it can be stunning - clear blue skies, hardly any cloud. It can belt down with rain, or it can be throwing 20mph+ winds at us. Sure it makes growing a challenge (isn't that a good thing? ) - but how soon do you think it'd be if it was sunny, cold, or snowy ALL the time?

Me? I love our climate/weather here. The only downside for me in the darkness of winter (but then when it gets lighter - what an effect - like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders - and when the sun beams through the hazy clouds onto the frosted ground, ya can't help but smile ).

I do find it amusing when people scoff at the cold, then like day in the office.. COR FLIPPIN' ECK ITS TOO HOT!. I grew up in a dessert basically - the lifestyle was good, but 40C every day during summer - you can hardly do anything until after 3pm!

I once went to Dominica in the Caribbean for a holiday and got chatting to a British couple who lived just up the road from where we were staying. When I said, it must be wonderful to live here they both said, almost in unison - yes but we miss the seasons! Something I hadn't thought of before.

The seasons seem to be getting a little blurred around the edges, one combining with another. In fact it's sometimes hard to tell which one we're in!

True It is a bit better here but, as you say, one season seems to run into another and one day we can have summer and the next day it can be winter but I don't think I'd like it if it was hot summer almost all year round - just think of the water rates

I you want to retire to a foreign land then New Zealand is just like England,but with less people & a slower pace of life,or where I would go ... Madeira I cannot fully explain why but if you went there you would understand

Where my late brother in law used to live, it would start snowing snowing round about beginning of October, and generally keep going (pretty much) until March - ish. Average daytime temperature of minus 18 -20. I love the cold and the snow, but when he used to say that the windchill could sometimes take it down another 10 - 15 degrees!!!

The lovely thing about our climate is that whatever it throws at you, gales, rain, snow, ice, too bloody hot!! you know it will only be for a few weeks and relief will come soon.
