I really enjoyed it and, until now, I had been wondering bout what the 3 lined up stars are.
No shooting stars out here tonight but it is a beautiful clear night (bleddy cold but beautiful and clear)
    Looking forward to tomorrows show.

Oh, strangely I forgot that. Someone emailed in to Ken Bruce this morning.
The sky completely clouded over, the boffin saying, well there's nothing going on here at the moment. Break in the cloud, and oops a comet flirts past his shoulder. Classic.

Is there anyone apart from the lovely, gorgeous Brian Cox on the programme?
Not able to see the partial eclipse or any stars up here because of the cloud, I did spot the meteor over the field at Jodrell (on the telly!) though.
I did get a bit worried when they started talking about the C.M.E.s that could wipe out everything electrical on earth though, how would we chat on here then?

                SueA ....CME's
There is a large group of us looking for CME's. The site I use is open to the public to join in (thats how I got involved) we look at easy to read data and log it. Part of the Zooniverse project. Its great fun -
Many groups of people are trying to sort out an early warning system to give various companies a chance to take action.
2012 -2013 is going to see a busy sun with many solar storms and CME's. It kinda runs in an 11 year cycle.
There are many other groups of very clever people 'on guard' to, as CMES can even effect things like high speed lifts, most of our ships, our sat navs - just think who relies on them .....not just Mrs HF trying to find her way around thats for sure.
Still on the bright side we may get some fab Auroras....that might even be seen in the UK

It was a meteor not a comet! Comets move very slowly through the sky.

I saw a shooting star a couple of weeks before Christmas. I was just walking toward the front gate, looking at the stars, and there it was. I was blinded a second later as the bl**dy security light came on!

Thoroughly enjoying the shows, but know what you mean about Wossie - just not sure what he's there for

We found out once from the NASA website that the Space Station and the Shuttle were orbiting overhead, so we set up camp and waited for the appointed time. Sure enough 2 tiny specks of light followed each other across the sky - amazing!

My ears pricked up when Brian Cox mentioned a new series, I hear that the BBC commissioned it and it's called Universal, but anyone know anything else?
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

It's called 'Wonders of the Universe' & is 'coming soon' to BBC2. I found a few 'taster' photos on here.

Thanks Headfry, I've saved 'Zooniverse' as one of my favourites now, it looks very interesting, I'm going to have a proper look around the site when I've got time.

"That dolly bird" has a Bachelor degree in biochemistry and also holds a Masters in Wild Animal Biology from the Zoological Society of London.

Maybe she is in Hawaii because the summit of Mauna Kea on the Island of Hawaii hosts the world's largest astronomical observatory, with telescopes operated by astronomers from eleven countries.
