The native americans provided food (deer and turkeys) and shelter to get the first pilgrims through the winter, otherwise they would all have perished. This is disputed; Oyate Web Page

Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating, anyway.
Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for the reminder to send an email to my American Penfriend. ( over 40 years of freindship )Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache

Hoping all my American friends have a good time. No, it won't be a public holiday here (nor is Bastille day, which I believe is a Holiday in France?) as it is not about a British event.Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

hope you enjoy your weekend.
i won't be celebrating it, but i will make a pumpkin pie at the weekend. i/we always used to celebrate it, as i grew up in the states. it was probably my favorite holiday, of them all.
i do sort of celebrate it nowadays, as at some point in tha day, i try to focus on the many things i have to be thankful for. ( not the original meaning, but close enough for me) and i always make a pumpkin pie.

Its a bit of a feast planned. I inherited the mother-in-law's recipes and am cooking for OH and his brother so I hope I get it right for them. We had a bit of a hitch as a friend has just announced she is pregnant, so can't eat some of the bits I was making. So individual chocolate puddings, rather than pots.

Dont celebrate it myself, but have one or two American friends, so always think particularly about them on Thanksgiving Day.
