Did he discover beer or does he go out and do less exercise now he's a little one at home?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Surely we must get back to fundamentals.
The body needs calories to produce energy any surplus is stored as fat.
When does the mimimum required turn from need to greed. That is the question???

allison; i dont think he is much of a drinker, though he did when he was younger. and eats about the same as before. but i think he is content, happy, fulfilled and settled, and i truly think that makes a differance

for me, greed is when i am not hungry , and i dont need it, but i eat it anyway, as in; someone gives me a box of chocolates, and i know i am going to feel guilty every day that i eat them. solution; eat them all at once, and only feel gulity for one day!!! then i can look forward to a fresh, guilt free start tomorrow!

Oh no, I hate finishing a nice box of choccies so eek them out as much as possible so they last forever - have still got some left from Christmas and not even started on my Easter egg.

allison, i could not possibly do that!!!! in truth, i dont get that many boxes of chocolate, so its not much of a problem! but that is my personal take on greed, in reply to brengirl- when you dont need it, you dont even particularily want it all, but it's there so you keep eating, even when you feel full.

I just cannot understand that at all. For me, anyway, I need saliva to enjoy food. When I can no longer salivate I cannot eat. Maybe this is the key.

ah- but i always salivitate around thorntons chocolates!!!! i think the answer is that we are all different, and what works for ones body mechanics, does not for someone elses. good thing we are all different, or the world would be very boring

it was originally said tongue in cheek; i dont forever sit around stuffing myself with chocolates, i am a very active person, and eat healthily. as i tell people not to buy me chocolates, but they still occasionally do- i like to get rid of them asap.

so in answer to your question, without being flippant. need turns to greed, at a different point in each individual. its up to the individual to work that out for themselves, not a scientist.

me too, please!! i remember a rule that i grew up with, and still use. if you lay flat on the floor, and put a flat stick on your abdomen, from your pelvic bone to your ribcage, and the ends of the stick are both resting level on both ends, then your are not fat. i believe this to be true, as even today, doctors are more concerned with abdomen fat, which poses serious health risks. any bulk on arms thighs buttocks etc. can be excused by build, metabolism, etc. but on your abdomen it is more dangerous and impacts on internal organs (& the nhs) . perhaps this is the visible measure of greed?

Greed is when you KNOW you don't need it, but want it and eat it anyway. Training your system to know whether it really is hungry, or responding to something else, can be a big help, but how difficult that is varies from one person to another.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I don't ever really need a piece of chocolage or a cake but now and then I like to eat them. That's only greedy if I carry on eating them without stopping. A bit of stuff you don't need now and then is fine and a good and healthy attitude to food.
