            • when I hit 40, I went into major decline (Better Half will vouch for this!!!) Got to 50, not quite so bad, but still depressed. 60 came along AND I LOVE IT!!!!! I can be a grumpy git and get away with it! We have 1 grandson and another 2 on the way, and I LOVE IT! I've got my bus pass AND I LOVE IT! I'm still working with the so called 'disaffected youngsters' AND I LOVE IT!

              • Good for you Zeb. My 30s were better than my 20s, even though I went through a heck of a lot.
I believe my 40s will be even better than the 30s when I depart them in 5 months time.

With a bit of good luck you're right, TS. Kids almost off hand, still have lots of energy, still look and feel good - the 40s are a pretty good place to be.

The 70s though? For some they can be grim, though not for me luckily. I'm 71, not in very good health but in a wonderful marriage and able to do my container gardening with a bit of help with the heavy jobs. We live in a beautiful, peaceful place and I have all my faculties.

Of course the bus and ferry concessions have just been removed here, adding to the cost of living on an island!

I'm 47 this May...I still feel like I'm in my twenty's, although my body thinks it's in its nineties some day's...so dose that make me middle aged????
How do I know if I'm Middle aged yet,
I haven't decided how long Im going to live.

I'm holding on to the last few months of my 30's turning 40 has no fear for me however it does for my OH as I have told her from 40 onwards I can start wearing white socks under my sandals, if only the kids were a bit older then I could take them to school with my slippers on but I think that will be better to leave till my 50's

                      • This thread is making me laugh!!

I am 30, pretty new to gardening, but as a vegetarian with 4 bunnies it seemed like a pretty logical thing to do...I find it really relaxing and a I get a little buzz when something actually decides to pop up....

                        • Just managed to squeeze into 30-39 bracket - it's my 40th birthday in June. I'm looking forward to it. My OH, on the other hand, whose 40th birthday is in a couple of weeks, is a bit dismal about it.

No kids (just a stepdaughter we see at weekends); not much energy (ME/CFS and chronic back pain), I'm struggling to lose weight now I'm older, I can see my face losing it's collagen already.... but, I finally have a house of my own with a largish garden, an allotment, and next week (fingers crossed) a proper grown-up greenhouse.

I have a small, but good circle of friends, a fulfilling job, I get on with my family, my partner is probably my life-partner, and I have lovely pets too. I honestly don't want for anything, for the first time in my life. Except more sunshine

                            • Greetings to Annacruachn at last someone else in the red zone. Feel a bit ancient when all the other grapes seem so young but still able to do most things as well as anyone else and never think of my age when I start to tackle a task.

Hi wollyanna. Welcome to the Owiseone club. For a while I thought I was the only one past sell by date on here. As I am not wearing any red stickers yet I didn't think anyone had noticed.
