Favorite Horror Film ??

Angel Heart is one of my favourites and two more that are a bit tongue in cheek are John Carpenter's Vampires & From Dusk till Dawn. An obscure old favourite is "The Raven" starring the excellent Vincent Price and a young Jack Nicholson.

Great flick, such a shame Mickey Rourke had to go back to boxing. He had such a good face for films, I really can't stand him as an actor now.

Can anyone remember a horror film in the 80's called "Superstition", I think it was re named "The Witch", its about a priest and his family that move to a derelict hotel next to a lake in the mountains, where a witch's evil spirit has been banished to the lake and held there with a cross that was thrown in after her. If you've seen the film, you'll recognise it.

Thanks Hot Stuff, that's the one...I still think its one of the best B movies I've seen, frightened me to pieces when I first watched it, boy friend at the time had to walk me home.

'Race with the Devil' also scares the bejeezus out of me. It stars Loretta Swit ('Hot Lips' Hoolahan from MASH), and is about two couples on holiday who accidentally stumble across...well, I won't give the game away!!

What about "Blue Velvet" with Dennis Hopper, Isabella Rosselini and a very young Lara Durn...very creepy.

No one has said the Excorsist?!?!
I saw it at the pictures one halloween - HAS to be seen on the big screen - my partner at the time, nearly passed out and had to be escorted into the front bit!

It was the film to watch as a kid becasue it was banned (that, along with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Evil Dead etc), but by the time I saw it I just thought it was daft.

When I was very small I used to stay at my Nan's house on some Friday nights. She used to let me stay up and watch "Hammer House of Horror"!!! I remember being absolutely petrified by the original "The Mummy" (Boris Karloff?), The Pit and the Pendulam (Vincent Price), The Raven (Vincent again!) and The House of Wax (Did Vincent ever get a night off?)
The worst thing was that Nan didn't have an indoor toilet and there was no light in the one outside, so the last pee before bed was fraught with terror after watching one of these films.
Have never been a fan of horror films since!
