For bought preserves I like either Strawberry or Apricot, apart from the fact they're far too sweet. I actually loathe Jam on toast, but love it on crackers (weird huh?).

My favourite is home made Bullace Jam. There are a couple of places locally where they grow wild, so I made a batch last year as Christmas presents. I don't put a lot of sugar in, so it's very tasty and slightly tart - yum!

Some of the above varieties sound lovely. I've heard of herbs in Jam, and I'm sure I've tried some of them. Far better than the sickly sweet stuff you can usually buy.

I get free Damsons from the trees that border our lottie and it does make stunning jam - not too sweet. If I'm making a Victoria Sponge then I usually opt for Bonne Maman Raspberry jam. OH loves Rhubarb and Ginger, which we normally buy at village fete things, made by the local ladies.

I'll third that! Although my late Mum's homemade strawberry was wonderful too, just one of the many things I miss...

                          I also love homemade marmalade.

                          Oh, and lemon curd!!
