Can't believe your GP! Can try the district nurses, social work or Royal Blind Society Home Page. - they might be able to help or point you in right direction

Blimey, I'd be worried too. Hope you get the home visit, sounds like it should be a priority really. Best wishes to you both and hope a recovery comes soon xx

Stick to your guns with the GP Jax. If they refuse to send a doctor, tell them you will ring for an ambulance. Oh and don't settle for speaking to the receptionist at your practice, you are entitled to speak directly to the doctor.
Hope all goes well for you both.

Right the doctor has just left. He was here for a maximum of 5 minutes. Anyhoo, he reckons its conjunctivitis. Im unsure personally but fingers crossed. He has prescribed eye drops. I always thought conjunctivitis just made you eyes gunky, not blind. He doesnt have any gunk.

                Right then, positive thinking lol

Well, he is a doctor and I'm not, but I am with you Jax, always thought there was residue left over with conjunctivitus, however I live and learn.
Hopefully thats now that problem sorted.
Did he give you any idea of how long before normal sight is returned?

he reckons a week or so. IF and its a big if I can convince hubby to use the eyedrops. He has had bad experiences with medicine before and it freaks him out. Ive researched it and it seems its a possibility. Just feeling abit beat with it all to be honest.

Hopefully he'll understand that's it's better to use the drops and be able to see. Probably take a couple of days for them to kick in so he must give them a chance.

What a hell of a situation, Jax, you must be at your wit's end.

When I lived in Lincolnshire my GP was also a naturopath. His name is Peter Mansfield and he works just outside Louth. Although he no longer works as a GP he now runs an online service which might be of interest to you.
                        You will find him here:-

Dr Peter Mansfield, Good HealthKeeping in Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 8UT Contact Information, Phone Number, Address & Map for Dr Peter Mansfield, Good HealthKeeping

He is a really good man and not a doctor who thinks of drugs as a first line of treatment. I think your husband would find it easy to relate to him.

                        Best of luck.

Fingers crossed for you both. I think you should start making a nuisance of yourself at the surgery. I wouldn't normally suggest tactics like this, but feel you are not getting the support you deserve. Meanwhile, I'm glad you sound so positive, and hope everything is fine.

Thats fantastic thanks. Apparently its a type of adenovirus. We have been talking about it with hubby and he kind of now accepts that the eyedrops are the neccasary way to go. I will keep the link and contact them.

Sorry Jax, have just realised that that url is now defunct. This is the current url:-

Not sure if Peter is still working as he must be in his late sixties now, but his ideas will be carried on by the company. Hope this helps.
