GYO - Problem? FIXED - BUT, Check your PC!

Just had another couple of threats blocked by AVG

Right whats going on....

When i saw this post a few hours ago i ran a full anti virus check, all was well.

Been on for a little while now and whilst replying to another posting my PC was attacked twice by a Trojan, (God Bless Norton.)

That's never happened before.

It might be absolutly nothing to do with this site, however, I am now doing another full check.

Suggest people do whatever needed for protection.!

Thanks guys for all your help... there have been dozens of sites just like ours being affected at the same time. I've applied the necessary updates and the fix should be a little more permanent. Please contact me via a Mod if you experience anymore issues.... (that's the quickest way!).

Just to upset all you maccies, you may not get virus's but about 90% of the Bot software in operation usually comes from Mac's ... Merry Christmas

I'll check it on my other browsers (I've got 4 or 5 for checking various websites I look after) but Flock and McAffee's seem OK today

AVG spoted ... malaware from blog casino. org

AVG 9.0 blocked that one for me too, at the same time as I got the big red screen. I ran a full scan, and there was nothing in the virus vault, so it's doing its job

I aint no computer geek but if your pooter has been infected with a trojan I would recommend changing all your passwords after removal.

A fortnight after the last trojan I had was elininated my bank account was accessed via Paypal.

Luckily Paypal took the blame and returned the money but I think it was the trojan accessing my passwords.
I was told it works by seeing which letters you access on the keyboard. I now use the onscreen keyboard to imput passwords into the computer via a mouse as this is harder for the trojan to access!

Its a jungle out there folks and its probably some 11 year old computer nerd kid sitting at a keyboard subsidising his pocket money!

Just logged into my Paypal account to check that my seed potato order went through, and discovered that mine has been robbed over the last couple of days too Really fed up, it's not like I've got much to steal

Don't think it's anything to do with the GYO problems though as my security blocked it. Just checking it now, and changing all my passwords.

I logged in on sunday, and got hit with something..i think a trojan as spyware doctor found one. As it kept disconnecting my internet 3 mins after logging on I couldnt do anything about it Norton let it through, no warning!
I've got Rapport (free with natwest acct) it does pass word protection and blocks keystroke readers, so hopefully that will be ok.
Wont log in to anything from desktop till its all sorted. (apart from here, which hardly exposes my bank acct Fortunately laptop has escaped so can use that.

I downloaded Rapport a while back but found it slowed my pooter down too much so got rid of it!

I know, it's not nice is it? But to be honest, forums all over the place have these problems, we're really lucky that Admin are on the ball and manage to keep them out. 'Spect that attacking on Christmas night was intentional, thinking that no-one would be able to sort it out. Barstewards!!

Most people seem to have been stopped from accessing the Vine by various different security products/browser security. But AVG has been letting folks through and I'm not sure if that's because it blocked the Malware, or if it's because it didn't detect it... So if you did manage to get through, I'm suggesting a scan of PC with something other than AVG...

My AVG picked it up and blocked it alright, then let me in. It was a malware script that was trying to run. AVG just stops them running and lets me carry on.
