These are the type I don't see the point of at all, acronyms are all well and good if they save a lot of time with something you're typing a lot but these two take longer than the proper word so only really serve to be a code that a high percentage of people won't understand.

Those ones used to confuse me until somebody said what they meant and they still make me cringe but I think that's because the word "darling" always conjures up those women who screech all the time, calling everybody "darling" or "sweetie" and doing that hideous mwah-kissy thing which is unbelievably false. I know that's not how people mean it but I can't get the image out of my head

The pictorial ones are for fun, not for basic communication......
In chatrooms a cuppa is just plain friendly, or a rose for someone's birthday. Fish (and the 'cat face' one I can never get right) are just a giggle. The τΏτ is really showing off, because the characters aren't on the keyboard and have to be 'found'<g>
