I have seen these Member of the Month thingies, and wondered what you do to get one of those. Is it for a particularly good thread, numbers of postings, exceptional personality; and who chooses the MOM? Is it issued from the Vine or is it from the magazine?
Although WEW was too polite to say it, I have a similar reaction to this.

Whilst he seems an okayish type of chap, apart from wine fridges, dishwashers, ' abuse (and other grammatical disgraces) and his Rimmer impersonation, has he actually made any useful gardening input? His last 200 posts suggest not.

I don't think he's a worthy winner of the award TBH and it's devalued it. There are far more worthy and knowledgeable grapes on here IMHO (And I obviously don't mean me, I just pop by every now and then.).

Yay, Ollie - I think this is a well-deserved MOM : for services to language, grammar, etymology and semantics along with keeping some of the threads fun to read and interesting! If we were all dead serious all the time I think we would be in a different forum, don't you think? Surely we are all welcome here - and if we don't enjoy a thread it stops because no-one wants to post (having started some one answer threads myself!)
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Ouch!!!! Not said in my name at all. I deny everything. BFG I am sure you mean well, but I dont think that AT ALL.

lol. Sorry to misinterpret your post WEW. It's just me then!

Whilst I agree it's obviously fine to talk about whatever people want to talk about, my point was I didn't think it was worthy of being MOM, when there's plenty grapes on here who really know their onions and provide lots of gardening knowledge, help and advice.

Ill (just for the pedants) leave you to your grammar policing..

                              Apologies. I'd had a few.

You know how to press MY buttons, don't you

As I said; good all round Vineage. Ollie has that in abundance...it takes alot more than just strict gardening knowledge to make the forum go round...my interpretation of Member of the Month is just that - if it was Gardener of the Month I might interpret that in a completely different way.
