The young District Nurse visited today, enthusing about the programme - her mum is already sizing up seed potatoes and containers. She waxed lyrical about the squash and jerusalem artichokes she'd enjoyed in Australia and how much she'd like her daughter to enjoy them - 'Can you get seeds for those in the UK?' Seed swap on the next visit!

I can't help it but I like this programme, it is purely for novices like myself and the enthusiasm that Carol exudes just makes me want to get up the lottie and have a bash. And it is good to see an experienced gardener say that not everything succeeds as in Carols carrots tonight.

I even enjoyed Kew tonight as well and I don't usually enjoy 'gardening' programmes that aren't about growing veg as I haven't got a garden.

Yash I agree it a good program for us novices.

Personally i liked the bit with the sweadish girl growing stuff on her balcony.

        She was so excited also

I thought tonights programme was very interesting - not many TV peeps would show their failures - although (even though I know nowt!) was surprised when Carol said she was planting roots near her big tree - even I managed to work out that the "roots" of the tree may cause problems! I would've grown lettuce etc. that doesn't have deep roots - what does everyone else think? DDL

I totally agree Bex, its aimed at beginners but even slightly more experienced gardeners like me cant help but get caught up in her enthusiasm. If just a little bit of that rubs off onto people its done a good job to promote grow your own.

I stilll get excited when its harvest time, its wonderful.

i found this weeks programme a bit Fast ie we were already into october. Her Crops were poor even her farting little Beetroot. They should be like Cricket balls. I did enjoy the Swede (No pun) growing in containers.

If Carol sowed her Carrots in Mid June the Carrot fly is dead by then and would not lay the eggs.
Also I think seeing the lows as well proves that it is hard work growing veg and you do not always get good results

I think its the enthusiasm which is so great - from Carol herself and the others! Just shows how you can get hooked!
Good to see the failures too, as we've all had those.

I really enjoy the programme - it's fun to watch & it's great to hear the birds singing & see some sunshine; if it gets a few more people sowing a few veg, then it will have done its job. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who gets really excited when I dig up a few veg!

Mr H particularly liked the Swedish girl - he was rather partial to her accent. Sadly, when I tried to copy it, I sounded more like the Swedish chef from the muppets

I'm sorry to say I was expecting a little more from the program. There seemed to be little body or substance to it.
I think the BBC should think about putting a little more information and advice in to the content. It struck me as being more like visual meringue. All froth and no depth.
                          Program information 5/10
                          Carol's enthusiasm 9/10

No change to last week then, it's a pity that the information can't be a bit broader for newbies and more seasoned growers. I have given it 2 weeks but can't see it being something I bother with again.

This happens all the time in Wales. I thank the Lord I'm Welsh but Loosing Gardeners World to Scrum 5 each Friday is crazy.
I tune in to BBC Scotland, Northern Ireland or England to watch. (note: All these other countries play Rugby too) we just get extra Rugby helpings here in Wales.

I'm afraid I watched the second episode and couldn't get the Director's instructions out of my head:

'Just run through that field one more time will you luvvie'
                                'A little more enthusiasm please...
'Can you just giggle a bit more on that one'

Sorry Carol, but I wish they'd got a real, informative director instead of an art school version, and do stick to gardening sweetheart, please.

I really don't mean to be cruel, but they've done the woman no favours at all.
