24hr virus?

Any one else had something like this?

Mr HF Saturday, was sick several times Saturday - wiped out all day Sunday but not sick and is now getting better.

I woke feeling sick early Sunday morning - in bed all day fever, raging back ache, headache. The smell of food made me feel so sick. Phoned doc. virus!

Any of you guys had this?

Talk about come on quick. I was fine when I went to bed as was Mr HF

My son has a cold (as well as tummy probs & teething) the missus felt like you and I feel rubbish as well, it's either swine flu or a general cold, I tried to explain to the missus that if she has swine she'll know what it's like to get man flu.

Was there not something that swept the nation last autumn? I know I had it, felt terrible for a couple of days, and then felt fine afterwards. But it came on really suddenly.
Hope Mr and Mrs HF feel better soon.
Did you eat the same thing by any chance?
There would be some who blame it on the salmon mousse!!

No sickness, but certainly aches, pains and feeling exhausted. We normally park our car near the lottie gates and walk down the lane - even with a broken toe I walked the 50 yards or so to the plot - but over the weekend we actually drove those 50 yards... it seemed just too far to walk.

Hmm, I don't normally pay much attention to non-gardening threads but this one caught my attention.

Exhaustion, lethargy, not able to concentrate - not like me at all, especially when I had two days clear of indoor jobs and errands an intended to work outside.

Whatever it is, I wish it would b*gger off back to wherever it came from and leave me alone!

i had this saturday and it came on all of a sudden, and my neighbour had it on friday, and it was the same for her too. Starting all of a sudden, one minute fine and the nest not! Also a couple of her collegues have also had it, but to be honest out of all the people that i knew that has had it all are women (how strange)!!

Friends hubby has swine flu. Raging temp and flu symptoms. GP's are apparently treating all calls as swine flu and asking that a relative goes to surgery to collect anti virals. This is to try to stem the spread of SF and advice is to stay at home until all symptoms have passed.

Blimey that's amazing - I phoned NHS helpline with all these symptoms 2 weeks back and mentioned SF had been diagnosed in the village and got told to ring again when my temp reached 40. Explained that at 40 I'd probably be fitting and not taking calls....they didn't seem to bothered.

In answer to the vomit thing - yes, on Valentines day. Exact same bug. Wasn't sure if it was food poisoning to start with and then mum dropped emergency supplies round on the Sunday, Monday she was going through it. It's weird isn't it. I drank lots of water and cleared my system asap.

Yes. The official advice is that as it is past the contained phase and GP's are now treating.

'Containment' to 'treatment'
As more people catch the virus in their communities rather than from abroad, it has become less effective to try and contain Swine Flu.

To allow health services to spend more time and energy treating the increasing numbers who have the virus, the government has decided to move from containment and outbreak management policies to the treatment phase.

The move from containment to treatment will apply in all four nations of the UK- England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This means that:

GPs will be able to diagnose swine flu on the basis of symptoms rather than waiting for laboratory testing

all tracing of people who have been in contact with a sufferer will stop

people who may have been exposed to the virus will not be given anti-viral drugs

anyone who is diagnosed with swine flu will continue to be offered anti-virals until further notice
Local primary care trusts will also begin to establish anti-viral collection points in their local communities. These could be at a designated pharmacy or a community centre, depending on local need.

I called the NHS Diect coz all three of us with in 72hrs came out with fluish symptoms, nurse said to stay at home until we feel better, she said people are feeling better within 7 days and should see the GP if our temps reach 39c.

@BumbleB: Did your mates hubby get wiped out by it? We are managing but feel real crappy. I think the two main things with SF are them high temp & shivers? Did he get a high temp right away or did come over a few days?

He became ill in the night suddenly, raging temp etc. His wife was very worried the next day and phoned the surgery. Their advice was to collect the anti virals which they did. It wiped him out for 4 days so far but he is improving now.

I think it's what my OH has, she suddenly became ill within hours with same symptoms as your friend, GP won't give her Tamiflu though as it's to late, if she gets worse she will have to have antibiotics. Bit worried about myself and our son now. We've both had colds with similar symptoms to my OH but mine came on over a few days.
