i ve just scrubbed my daughters wellies for her work experience at the local vets tommorow, she leaves school may next year, just got herself a boyfriend and a teenage attitude, ( she grounded at the mo ! ) but i feel old ! am only 33 !!!!!
I've just got to ask - why wasn't she scrubbing her own wellies?
I ironed younger sons clothes for the last time today. The deal has always been that as long as he's at school (providing he's actually studying!), he gets his laundry done for him. But his last A level exam is in ten days, and he has enough clothes to see him through until then, after which it becomes his responsibility. Another corner turned!
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) your only as old as you feel, I am the same age lol.......teenagers do make u feel old lol...........make her scrub her own wellies!!!!!!!!
Too right! I wouldn't have scrubbed her wellies! ( I'm not getting at you honest!) I used to throw a bin bag into my son's bedrooms every Saturday morning and leave the hoover outside on the landing! They did their own cleaning (cost a fortune in Pledge but what the hell!) AND ironing. I just happen to be the Mother-in -law that is my DIL's best friend! (both of them!) It's my proudest achievement! Boy was I glad to get rid of their smelly socks! (didn't tell DDILs about that!) Both lads do all the cooking in their family too.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.
Have to add, my son, now aged 30, started baking when he was about 8 (we called the results "Gordon's Ghastly Green biscuits", because he got a bit heavy handed with the food colour, but otherwise they were fine) and was making Delia's mincemeat Christmas cake by the time he was 12 (I don't eat fruitcake).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
I forget my age sometimes cos I dont feel 54 then my eldest son reminds me he is 30 lol. Years ago I worked in a resturant and the regulars were of the older generation and us young ones would laugh at the twin sets and tweed skirts that the ladies wore and wondered if we would dress like that lol ( no offence intended ) I am glad to say now I am nearing that age I do not dress like that, but neither do I want to dress like mutton dressed as lamb so what should I wear !!!!! ?????? I bought a pair of shorts the other day lol.
Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache
I looked at the pop charts (are they still called that?!) in the supermarket the other day. No idea who most of the artists are...except Ronan Keating. And Jim Reeves (before my time, honest, but my AP's had his LP's) is in the charts....very odd.
My oldest was 23 in April. He's just starting teacher training after gaining his chemistry MA. Doesn't seem like 5 mins since I left him at the school gates on his first day.
And I don't feel any older inside then I did back then. Shame the outside doesn't quite match!
Maybe i should have made her scrub her own wellies !!!! i think i`m probaly to soft !!! i didnt read the replies until now !!! but got up this morning at 5am and made her pack lunch to take on my day off !!! yes i am to soft, but she a teenager away with the fairies in " Claudias world " its less hassle if i do it myself ! oh and alot less mess !!!!!
If you want to feel young you should come and hang out at our allotment site, where the average age is about 75. I'm 36, but compared to everyone else I'm just a teenager!
I too am 33 - you should pay a visit to our allotment.
When I joined Geoff the dude that runs the site, asked me over the phone "Are you retired?". When I replied that I was 31 at the time he replied "Oooh, a young'un!".
Haven't felt that good for some time before, or since.

Haha, it is quite exciting for me too, although not as good as the time I got asked for ID when buying some wine in Tesco last year.
Cashier: Are you 18?
Me: *snigger* Um, no!
Cashier: Well I'm very sorry, but I can't sell you this wine.
Me: I'm not 18, because I'm 35!
He was an elderly gentleman, and I suspect he must have had eyesight problems because I don't even look that young, but I was still chuffed.
I think it teenagers that make you feel old, as Claudia says to me you were sooooo born old mum ! it doesnt stop her pinching my clothes and make up though !!!! i must admit my 1st hubby was older than me and his mates and their wifes were about my age now, i was 18 and used to think, that is so old !!!, i think the problem with teenagers they think their parents were never young !!! or did anything remotely naughty !!!!
