  • Hi, I am home again.

The paramedics called a big ambulance out as they think that my brother in law may have broken his hip. He was in a lot of pain when he moved and also seemed a bit delirious on and off. They have taken him to the local hospital. I'll track him down later if I don't hear from the hospital.

Somehow I seem to have missed lunch so I'm thinking about food now.

    • Sorry to hear that GF. I’m sure seeing you helped him feel a bit brighter.

          • Sorry to hear your news, GF. Poor man. But thank goodness for his alarm. Not a good situation, but could have been worse without it.

Sounds like your sisters are rallying round you, GF. That must be nice. I only have two brothers and their relation is verging on the one between your sons, LD. Not a lot you can do about it, I'm afraid.

            • I have definitely eaten something, CG. I made myself a full meal when I got home and actually enjoyed it. I seem to have got my appetite back with a vengeance now. I've also taken a pack of chicken livers out of the freezer, ready to make some chicken liver pate tomorrow. (Delia's recipe) It's one of favourite foods and so quick and simple to make.

A doctor from the hospital has just rung me to ask a few questions about my brother on law and tell me that they have put him on a ward.

                • Morning all.

Hope your BiL has got the fight in him to resist a catheter, GF.

Very bright but distinctly chilly this morning here.

Jack is full of the joys of spring and breakfast, but he's taking it out on Mr Snoop at the moment. So I might make the most of the opportunity to get some paid work underway. Seven months to go...

Sorry to miss the brew, CG. I'll put the kettle back on.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

                  • Morning all.

Sorry to hear about your BiL, GF. Hope he's not too seriously hurt and makes a speedy recovery.

There was a light frost here early on but it's overcast now and set to be sunny later so I'll be planting out the sweet peas, now the fierce winds have abated. I've got more flower seeds to start off, but I'm out of compost so they will have to wait. A bank holiday is no time to venture into a garden centre.

                    Have a lovely day all.

                        • Good morning.

It is only 5°C, but the sun is shining and we have no rain, sleet or hailstones forecast for today.

Back shortly .... coffee is calling.

I got awoken by another call from the doctor at the hospital for more information about my brother in law last night. I was more than happy about that as at least I know that they are looking after him. Evidently he has no broken bones which us a relief but they are trying to find out why he fell .... again. He's had quite a few falls over the last few months. Evidently they are not very happy with some of his blood results. Hence why he is now on a ward.

Snoop, I'd forgotten (blocked out?) our local hospitals' obsession with catheterising elderly patients. I hope that he has resisted too. I cannot stand the way the staff treat them like naughty toddlers either, even more so when they have all their faculties. They will get absolutely no help from me if they want to convince him to extend his hospital stay for more than a couple of days needed to run more tests. I am going to calm down now and try not to anticipate the worst.

I got very little sleep last night and am now debating the wisdom of driving down the M1 to my sister's for lunch.... as I feel half asleep.

                            • Mornin n’alln’all
Sunny here…and apart from one quick loo break , I slept for 10 hrs!
It’s a bit like passing the ‘sleep conch’…my turn to have it last night

Holiday planning today…finally got OH focussed on finding places to stop over….I think suggesting he looks for Real Ale pubs nearby has helped him pay attention!!!
North East coast and over to the Trossocks is the bit we need to sort.
I want to collect Sea glass from Seahouses beach. Not sure about fossil beaches or prehistory that far north. Pass by Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne without necessarily stopping for the day….can anyone suggest anything good to see south/west/ slightly north of Edinburgh away from tourists?
I had thought of Alnwick gardens but I can’t imagine there’s much growing there at the moment. So, any suggestions would be much appreciated please? ( we have the camper so don’t want to go into town/ city centres)
We’ll be staying and visiting Vindolanda near Hexham for sure…it’s years since we last visited and I believe they have extended it or something…. Very exciting doing all this planning

                              Well…I best crack on!
Diet starts again tomorrow, but it’s been fun whilst the ‘Easter munching’ has taken place!…Just half a bunny left for this evening….

Enjoy your day peeps, and sending positive vibes to anyone needing them…or hugs…take your choice…but they will be supercharged by the smiles for sure…looks like they have been more than wound up by Jack!

                              • GF and Snoop..I absolutely agree about catheterising….especially as blokes don’t need indwelling catheters…they have the luxury of externally fitted ones!…so absolutely no excuses.
