  • I always found the mini cucumbers to crop very heavily and you had to keep your eye on them or suddenly found a monster hiding away (a bit like courgettes). Mine cropped so well that I started making cucumber chutney.

    • Good morning.

It's a grey, chilly, miserable one but we have sunny intervals forecast for later in the day.

I'm going to wrap up my jigsaw that I completed yesterday ready to send to one of my sisters. I've also got some trousers to wrap for my two great nephews. They were originally intended as Christmas presents but got "lost" and have just come to light again. I better send them now while they are still a suitable size. They got something else for Christmas so I'll call these an Easter present ... a bit different to an Easter egg, but more useful.

I think it's coffee time now.

      • Morning

        Its cool and cloudy here.

I grow Beth alpha cucs, pick them at 4-6 inch not really mini but they do crop well, most visitors leave with a couple.

Tea and porridge here this morning.

        Enjoy your day.

        • Morning all.

Sorry for missing your birthday, GF. Belated greetings and best wishes.

Another cold and blustery day here. But all good. The cats were out nearly all night, sending Jack a bit spare. And then frantic when they turned up. He's still far too much for us, but he's making the best of a bad job (us). The other day he heard our Italian friend green laning on his motorbike and ran after him. They went for eight km, Jack running all the way, a lot of the time at 40 km, as our friend thought Jack would get left behind and come home. But he kept up all the way, so our friend brought him back home. After a three-second pant and drink, Jack was up for more. Time for me to get an electric mountain bike, I think.

OK, so no tax declaration done yesterday but definitely today. Talk about last minute, though! My accountant said to call her at 2.30 pm to arrange to meet some time later today. I've been trying to see her for a bit, but to be fair to her, I should have been a bit more persistant.

Hope you manage to get a decent night's sleep soon, Nicos.

          Have a great day, everyone.

          • Jack
Quite a few use electric bikes here with all the hills and forest trails.

Fog came down on the walk and for a minute there I thought the sun was appearing, but no.

            Another cup anyone?

            • Snoop it sounds like Jack had a good time out with his friend. I know what you mean about electric bikes and hills, its something we've been thinking about.

              • Ooh..yes please CG…that last one did the trick and I’ve only just woken up!…thanks for that

Good Grief Jack!!!!! That’s some going- I bet you admire that ability - I certainly do!
Maybe your friend might take him for a run more often?..did it quieten Jack down a tad later in the day or does he always run on high adrenaline? An electric mountain bike might be a good way for you to get fit too - that’s certainly a thought!

We are literally just ordering a tow bar to be fitted on our camper when we are over ( much cheaper) so we can take our bike rack and bikes places for a change of scenery( ie flatter places!), but ours are electric road bikes- I bet off roading mountain bikes would be great fun!

Not sure what today will bring- it’s dull outside so but with no chill wind for a change so I’m hoping to go more gardening.I’m certainly realising how much of a fair weather gardener I’m becoming!

Whatever you all get up to….have a great day peeps.
I spotted the smiles earlier and I did explain that GF wouldn’t have any spare burpday cake left over cos she didn’t treat herself to one…but you could see the hope in their eyes…so I did say maybe she might have some spare chocolate?…

                • Snoop, Jack reminds me of the Alsation we had when I was young. For a few weeks, he disappeared on Sunday mornings, arriving home in the afternoon, curling up, and going to sleep. One Sunday, my mother kept a close eye on him.

Suddenly, she heard someone calling his name Rex, which was on his collar. There was a group of four or five old (probably younger than I am now) men outside. My mother spoke to them. Evidently, every Sunday, they did a four or five mile hike through the local countryside, calling at a couple of country pubs en route for a pint. Rex had started joining them and had made friends with them all. They were most apologetic ..... for kidnapping him. My mother just handed them a lead and said she'd leave a spare at the end of the drive in future.

Edited to say, this was the same dog who would sit outside the local butchers door until he brought him a bone out. Independent and a mind of his own.

                  • Good Morning All Done all my puzzles and stripped the bed. The sun is shining but it's really cold. I envy all your surroundings - if we see electric bikes they're delivering food, or being chased by police! I'm glad our house and garden are inside a sturdy fence. Have a good day

That has put a grin on my face…..they’re not daft are they?….. look at Lord Ginger and Flo….he’s got her round his tiny pinkie!

                      • Sorry I missed your birthday GF, so sending you belated wishes.

Good morning all, sunny and cloudy and it's 11 degs.
We had a stressful flight home with no disruption at the airport.
Lots to do today especially in the garden, weeds and weeds.

Snoop, sounds like Jack might be part greyhound.
Good idea to get a mountain bike
Just home from a grory hop so the fridge is restocked.
                        Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                          • Bramble, the latest thinking on Jack is that he's part greyhound, part doberman. Hence the speed and the strength.

Edited to add: Glad to hear your flight was stressful. I think this might go down as a Vine special, along with grory hop.

Or maybe it was accidentally on purpose
