Good morning.

I have actually had a good night's sleep.

I have just turned the thermostat up, grabbed a fleece hoody and braved the kitchen to make myself a mug of coffee Still no snow but it's -1°C and frosty. Amazingly, at just gone 7am it was bright enough to make coffee without turning a light on.The days are getting longer ..... slowly.

There's coffee ready now and I'll stick a few croissants in the oven. Help yourselves.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you lovely people …and for those of you who don’t have someone to spoil you, then what a good excuse to spoil yourself!

GF…Thanks for the offer, but we also have croissants waiting for us..one being an almond paste stuffed one…mmm…
I have a feeling this is going to undo all the dieting and exercise of this week in just one bite

We have steady rain at the moment…been going on all night ‘ feels like -5°C ‘ outside apparently….I’ll take their word on that!

OH wants to watch the rugby today…so we’ll have our main meal at lunchtime. A day of rest exercise-wise….just watching other blokes running around throwing a ball and skidding in the mud. I’ll probably do more on my family tree whilst it’s on and watch the
more exciting bits.

Whats everyone else up to today? Whatever it is, do make sure you have a smile on your face

A sparkly white frost here this morning, not ventured out yet to check my GH overnight low. No thanks to croissants GF MrPots made tea and toast earlier.

No plans here Nicos apart from eldest grandson visiting this morning, probably motor bike stuff.

Morning all.

Blowing a gale here, so I'm staying firmly indoors except for essential runs to the wood pile and the like. I was hoping to do a bit of veg patch preparation, but it'll have to wait. Tomorrow might be possible according to the forecast. But I wish I hadn't looked... more rain on the horizon.

So, I reckon some domestics and maybe a bit of paid work today. Perhaps a bit of viewing entertainment. Watched a 1978 BBC production of Richard II last night. They don't make them like they used to, that's for sure. Just as well we're watching on CD, though. The subtitles (in English) are essential. I'd never keep up otherwise.

Leg shaking time is here. I've got a second bookshelf for my recipe books. Mr Snoop is fed up of seeing the overspill from my first shelf spreading all over the place. So I need to shift a load of his tools out of the living room and into the garage (or a barn) to make room for my books. A win-win for me...

Morning, sunny but so cold! Family on way but later than planned because the baby has decided she is bored in her car seat so a few extra stops en route. lol Can’t say I blame her.

Morning all.

So lovely to see and feel the sunshine (through the window, it's darn nippy outside).

I did Richard II for O level and we had a school trip to Stratford to see Ian Richardson and Richard Pasco in the play. I think it is my favourite Shakespeare play, out of the ones I know. It has some wonderful speeches.

Totally agree, mothhawk, it's a fantastic play. And you're right, some wonderful speeches. Derek Jacobi plays Richard II in this BBC version, Charles Grey the Duke of York (some difficult scenes to play for him but he was really good) and John Finch was Bolingbroke. John Gielgud played John of Gaunt. I've never read the play and was very tired by the end so will go back and read some of the closing speeches just to try and grasp all the metaphors.

I have seen it once before (part of the Beeb's Hollow Crown series). Despite the impressive Hollow Crown version's cast, it didn't make anything like the same impression on me.

^Caliban has some of the very best lines in The Tempest and for me is the most interesting character. A great role to play, Mark. Bet you had a lot of fun.

Went to see Franco Zeffirelli’s film and loved it.

Far from the Madding Crowd was the literature book.
Again…we went to see the film starring Julia Christie and Alan Bates…all the boys were fawning over Julia and all the lasses over Alan…

I used to drink in the Shakespeare Arms pub, along with a trip to Stratford to play rugby, that's as close as I got to the Bard, we did Animal Farm for "O" level English Lit.
