    • Morning all.

Dull and damp. Got my outdoor jobs more or less done yesterday. Definitely an indoor day today. Lots of domestics and lots of paid work too. Never mind. Soon be spring...

      Have a great day, everyone.

            • Mornin n’alln’all

              dry here too….
and get this!…enough blue sky to make a sailor’s trousers… Be nice if it stays that way!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend? OH was watching the rugby yesterday but there’s none on today. Sounds of cheering and encouraging filled the air most of the afternoon and evening I did watch some of it, but two matches are beyond my limit.

It looks like I can get some deadheading/ cutting back done today at least. Maybe a bike ride first though.

I’m sure I can smell your bacon from here Flo- I made a lovely bacon and egg bap last weekend when we were in the uk….mmm…yummy memories!

Our chooks have started laying more - it’s been one a week between the three of them ( 2 are very old) jt’s now varying between one and two a day which is plenty for the two of us. I didn’t make buns yesterday, so I’ll use some eggs up today whilst the pie is in the oven. No point in wasting electricity!

I think I over slept this morning, so might have missed the smiles flying overhead…hope they are heading your way…

              • Good morning all you Lords, Ladies and gentlemen.

Another hour and a half until sunrise, although I think it will be well hidden, even then, behind thick cloud. At least it has stopped raining, temporarily.

I have no idea about my ancestors. One side of my family came from a small hamlet where everybody seemed to be related. Having, over the years, uncovered various family secrets from both my family and Mr GF's, I do wonder just how accurate a lot of family trees are in regards to true parentage.

......... l've happily just enjoyed another four hours or so of shut eye. I don't know how it happened but suddenly it's 10am.

I've got coffee now and all is right with the world .

Last night I overdid the chocolate which means that apart from a part box of chocolate liqueurs from Christmas my supply has dried up and my grory hop isn't due until Tuesday. In an emergency there is cooking chocolate in the cupboard. I am thinking of using the cooking chocolate to make some fridge cake/tiffin. However, I have realised that I haven't got any golden syrup. I am wondering if honey would be a suitable substitute? Or should I just eat the cooking chocolate? Any thoughts? I suppose I should just forget about chocolate and wait until Tuesday for my golden syrup to be delivered😇, but this is the REAL world. There's something about cold, miserable weather and chocolate. In Summer I barely touch the stuff, as long as I know that there Is some in the cupboard.

I'm going to sneak Mr GF one of his hearing aids in now and put the TV on low to hopefully wake him up in a good mood...

                  • Looks like we have the rain now!…but it did hold off until it was dark, so we managed a bit of gardening this afternoon.
We also went on a cycle ride which was great…the rest of the day was pottering. Things get done when you potter don’t they?

I also had a lovely chat with my granddaughter for an hour on WhatsApp- such a delight!…I love her humour.

We are going out in the camper tomorrow - I’ve a morning appointment a bit of a drive away so we’ll explore the area and have a picnic…rain or not! Always nice to get out in the camper

When in need of a chocolate fix and I’ve not got any in, I tend to make a self saucing chocolate pudding in the microwave. It uses good quality coco powder and is lovely and rich and moist.

Early start for me in the morning…so an early night is needed. Plus I need to rest my aching muscles!!!

                    Sleep tight all n’all

                    • We awoke to a bit of sunshine, by the time we'd showered and breakfasted(is that a word?) the sun had vanished not to be seen again. As it was dry we went for a beach comb after all the rough seas, loads of Cuttlefish bones, never seen that in 20 years here, didn't even know we had any this far north. Found a couple of nice banded agates and the heavens opened so we legged home as fast as we could, 7 degrees so warmer.........ish.

                      • Evening all.

I did make the chocolate fridge cake, with lots of glace cherries, sultanas, and digestive biscuits this afternoon, and used honey in place of golden syrup. I did forget a splodge of brandy. It is a success anyway and I've just eaten a chunk with a glass of milk In my twenties I remember that I used to make chocolate cake in the middle of the night reasonably frequently, usually when I'd not bought chocolate as I was trying to loose weight!

                        Sleep well.....😴😴

                        • Good morning.

It's grey and murky here. Our forecast is showing winter showers for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday Do I believe it?🤣🤣🤣 No! They've cried wolf too often. I'll probably get snowed in now!

It's time for heat and coffee, I think.

Heat is taken care of. I've turned the thermostat up and am awaiting the results. I'm so happy that I don't have to clean out and lay a proper fire. Lovely to look at, but certainly not instant. As a child I always used to cuddle up on the hearthrug with our Alsation.

Coffee is now made and I am back in bed enjoying it.

I do like watching a snapshot of life through my kitchen window. Even though I live in a cul de sac there is nearly always something to see. I have only once lived in the back of beyond and it really did not suit me. I think my favourite place to live was on board a boat, moored in a marina. Lots going on, but if we wanted peace and tranquillity we could just set off, hoist the sails and anchor up somewhere remote.

I have always, apart from a very few notable exceptions, slept very well on board boats of any kind. The normal slight movement just lulls me to sleep and it takes at least a force 8 gale to disturb my sleep.

Time to get something productive done now ......

Another day of rain here no real plans just a bit of mending using my sewing machine.

GF last year we stayed in our caravan at a marina, like you say lots to look at and good flat towpaths for walking and cycling.

                            Enjoy your day

                            • Good Morning All Looking like rain here too. I didn't put the heating on first thing, but I'm about to now. I might have a rummage through the wardrobes again today. It's a nightmare trying to convince Himself to throw anything away, even things he hasn't worn for years Have a good day

                              • Morning all.

Against all expectations, the sun is shining here. Doubtless not for long. Sadly, I'm stuck indoors with work, but it is nice to look out the window.

Not sure living at a marina would suit me. I like to see trees. Maybe I just haven't seen the right marinas, just ones in cities.

                                Have a great day, everyone.
