Nicos, thinking about my Scott of the Antarctic impression in the eighties, it was in the late eighties because that was when I had the Ford Capri.

I remember the snow in the early eighties though. It lasted a couple of weeks around Christmastime. I was working in Bradford which is like a big bucket with the city in the bottom. There is only one flatish road out, Canal road. One of the girls that I worked with lived in that direction and half a dozen of us young singles camped out at her house for about a week, venturing into work and to the cinema en masse. Also to the theatre to see a pantomime. It was so cold. I remember that we took sleeping bags everywhere. Happy times!

Morning all.

Well, yesterday was actually a frustrating day. Mr Snoop has had a bad fall and it's really brought home to me that I shouldn't be dithering, that I do need to stop work to look after him. So I went to see the woman who's been 'advising' me on the subject of retirement and after telling me that I could retire last time we spoke, she's now saying I can't. Aargh!!! I'll have to make an appointment with the social security people and see what they have to say.

Right, that's that rant out the way (I ate a lot of chocolate yesterday as part of my recovery from the bad news...).

Misty here at the moment. Another spell of mixed rain and snow due to start today. Looking less and less likely we'll get snow that will settle for long. Sounds like you had a good time in Bradford, GF.

Good morning.

I am hopefully waiting for the postie to collect my parcel, between 8.25am and 11.25am.

It was very cold last night. All the cars looked like ice cubes. It is still -1°C. I am warm, snuggled into my black and white checked, knee-length oversize hoodie and a pair of Mr GF's microfleece trousers. I don't know why they are so warm, but I'm not complaining. I used to have a onesie a few years ago that trapped the heat and was warm and cosy .... until a trip to the loo was necessary.🥶🥶

Snoop Puss, so sorry to hear about Mr Snoop's fall. I hope he's okay? I hope that you get things sorted out. Sending lots of hugs your way.

I did enjoy living in Bradford. I was there for 5 years and then moved to the Netherlands.

No sign of so much as a snowflake here yet. Will we get more than a smattering this week?

The postie has now collected my parcel and I've got another coffee. Mr GF is still asleep.

I finally fell asleep at 5am No idea why…full moon maybe , but it means I have slept away the morning…and am still tired

Crikey Snoop….I hope you get this retirement info sorted for once and for all . It must be very unsettling seeing the goalposts keeping on moving

We have had a small amount of snow this morning…just enough to hide the black ice. I’ll not be going anywhere!

Flo…I may start to take down one or two decorations today …mainly to lessen the shock of being left with what feels like a bare room…in desperate need of dusting

GF…sounds like you had a great time during those heavy snows…it’s lovely to reflect on those happy memories isn’t it?

Right…it must surely be time for another brew!…anyone fancy joining me?

Morning, just fed the birds, it's zero degrees and it isn't expected to rise, we have snow, but we don't usually get much as we are on the coast, it's about an inch deep. Seems most of the roads are impassable unless you have a decent 4x4, which I don't have any more, too costly to run, I bought a brand new SUV when I retired, told my wife that would probably be the last new car we would have and here we are ten years later and over a 100000 miles and we have bought another new car, a slightly smaller SUV that does 50 mpg.

Good day all,we still got the snow,it has not melted at all,our monday choir has been cancelled,and if it's like this tomorrow i will have to miss church as well,it is so cold here,heaven knows what the heating will cost,but i cannot be cold,that extra £100 i now get it helpfull,together with the extra 25 p per week in the pension and the £10 christmas bonus,my son and DL rang to check if i was ok,i promised that i would shout if needed,how nice was that.
Snoop i do hope you can get sorted with the help you both need,it is a worry for you,we are here for you,just hope he not badly hurt bless him.

Afternoon, 1° and sunny but boy it’s bitterly cold. No snow though.
No decorations to take down indoors although outside wreath and lights are now in and packed away.
Look after yourselves on the ice, Snoop hope Mr Snoop is not too badly injured after his fall! x

Sorry to read about MrSnoops fall hope he soon recovery’s.
It sounds like your retirement age has been increased Snoop they’re gradually altering the UK the requirement. Fingers crossed you can sort something out.

Although we have snow on the ground it’s been sunny with a good breeze so the laundry was almost dry when we bought it indoors

Sorry to hear Mr Snoop had a bad fall, Snoop. Hope he can recover from it quickly. No doubt it was a scare for you both. Fingers crossed social security services can sort something out so you can at least reduce your work, if not completely retire.

No snow here, it often misses us, but a very heavy frost that is still lingering in shaded spots where the bright sun cannot reach. The bird bath began to ice over again at about 2.30pm. I didn't have the heart to chase off the 2 pigeons and 2 collared doves that came to the bird table to scoff everything. They are just as hungry as all the little birds.

My decorations all came down on Boxing Day. I don't like leaving it till the last moment.

The frost melted away and the temperature climbed up to 3°C, but it is now dropping again. There is a bitterly cold wind.🥶 and the temperature is minus again already.

Burnie, I never particularly wanted an SUV, but we bought one just over four years ago as Mr GF was struggling to get in and out of our estate car. It's not a big one but it really made things so much easier for him (and his siblings too).

I've now added cooking chocolate and digestive biscuits to tomorrow's shopping list. I'm planning on making sticky chocolate cake, a.k.a. fridge cake when my chocolate stash "disappears". I've got all the other ingredients in stock.
