  • Evening all.

Sorry to hear that, Flo. Any chance it could have been a four-legged thief? Fox or dog?

As for Mr Snoop's appointment, somewhat curtailed by his consultant being called to a crash cart emergency. So someone else having a much worse time of it than him. They are looking to treat everything, though, as far as we could tell. A couple of ops and several rounds of jabs to block nerves and I don't know whatever else because it wasn't all clarified due to the emergency. Just to expect a lot of letters with appointments and more tests.

And as for the shopping, the Lidl branch seemed to have sold out of all its festive goodies already. Poor planning, because here the festivities continue till 6 January. No panettone and no fancy chocolates. All the festive stuff was very expensive crisps and their version of After Eights. I was quite shocked. Anyway, probably just as well. Don't ask me how we managed to spend so much money on next to nothing...

Right, time for a sit-down and recover from being out in the big wide world.

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.

    • Pre- mornin n’alln’all
Looks like having my family here helped with my insomnia and I’m now reverting back to the ‘factory setting of my medieval little sleeps’
Probably the hyperactivity of the 4 yr old exhausted me!
Anyway…can’t complain I’ve already had 5 hrs, and no doubt will grab a couple more soon.

Flo…that’s very disappointing. My first thought too was possibly a fox or stray dog gleefully walking off with its Xmas food. I guess they’d be famished in this freezing weather. But it does make you wonder
How very kind of you though - what a lovely neighbour you are.

Snoop - that is wonderful news! No doubt hard going for the next few months but thank goodness things can be done for your OH. Are you able to contact the consultants secretary by email and ask for confirmation of the plan of action or doesn’t it work that way in
      Spain?

Yesterday was a bit of a rest day for us- we caught up on a few Xmas TV things, having not had it on at all for the week- making the most of chatting, playing , crafting and general activities together. It made a lovely change tbh.
It ended up that the only screen time we had was watching a few Simon’s Cat Xmas compilations. Delightful!

I have a tiny grory hop to do- salad stuff basically and am going to try out our very newly opened corner shop/ bar. OH has popped in for a coffee a few times to support them whilst they are still waiting for their alcohol licence- so I thought I’d check out their food. They also run a small restaurant in the next village and a hot food van so I imagine food in the shop should be very fresh with a pretty quick turn around .
It feels good to be able to support such an enterprising family particularly as it will bring life back to the village. We are only just over
300 residents and we have a small junior/ infant school too, so along with the fantastic butcher and obligatory village hairdresser ( all the elderly people seem to have the same hair cut be they male of female) this new shop should be a win win for the community.
I want to see if they supply locally made bread, supply gas and collect post….all essentials for village life.

Right…Hibou is demanding some food …so she is most Welcome to her little and often tastes of food. Any more and she is sick…but we seem to have hit on a good regime for her at the moment
See you at a more reasonable time.

      Oh…and whoever’s snoring….could you please keep the noise down a tad?…..ta muchly.

      • Good morning, Nicos (and any other night owls)

I am now giggling to myself, trying to visualise what the one unisex haircut in your village looks like. For some reason, the John Wyndham book, the Midwich Cuckoos, got dredged up from the depths of my brain, but they were "just" children.

Flo, that is very sad about your present.

I haven't been to sleep yet. Partly my own fault tonight. I should never have picked up such a gripping book to read. I've read it all now and am actually starting to yawn.

        See you later.

        • Morning all.

It's a bright morning, but back to cloud and drizzle this afternoon. With any luck, the seven-day forecast will change. Snow and lots of it...

Need to make the most of the sunshine so will catch you all later.

Wishing the sleepless ones a decent bit of eyelid inspection.

          Have a great day, everyone.

            • Frosty start here this morning, but it does look lovely, I leave a lot of perennials stems for Ladybirds and the like to overwinter in, they look quite nice with the frost on them in the weak sunlight.

                • I finally got to sleep after 3 hrs…then slept for another 4 hrs …and feeling quite good on that.

Turns out today is the one day the shop/ bar is closed …tomorrow will do.

The village haircut is near enough a slight variation of a short back and sides. Not quite a Peaky Blinders style, but not far off She also automatically trims eyebrows to a number 2 using her clippers- as an elderly relative of ours found out when she fancied having a chic french haircut

Looks like we are pinching the sunshine again- sorry about that. It’s actually warm on the face too now the winds have dropped.

Enjoy the rest of the day….come on…spill the beans all you grory hoppers- what accidentally hopped into your shopping baskets?

                  • Essentials only today Nicos just to top up. I was really annoyed that I had to pay full price for a jar of coffee, I usually wait until it's on offer, but have run down my stock.
Glad to hear that treatment is planned for Mr Snoop.
                    Have a good day

                      • Good morning again.

It's grey and only 4°C. The possibility of a bit of snow later in the week has suddenly appeared in our forecast.

I've just had a call from our doctor's surgery. The blood tests that I had last week are fine. (I still have the bruise, however!)

I've a grory hop due to be delivered between 11am and noon. No substitutions, short dates,or missing items.

Shopping has been delivered and is now packed away. Nothing exciting on this week's shop, Nicos. Even though is not even New Year yet, there was nothing different/festive to buy. Worryingly, I almost ran out of milk for the first time in years. "Almost" being a subjective term, of course.

                        • Popped into one of the local supermarkets, Hogmanay chaos would describe it, luckily we found a parking spot and got the bits we needed(milk and bread mostly) then legged it, won't need to go again for a least a week.

                            • Good night all.
We had a difficult day..It was the funeral of my brother in law.
It was sad meeting family members at this time of year under such circumstances.
Having said that, we got through the day and hopefully he is now at peace.

                              Hope everybody sleeps well.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
