  • Morning all.

Hope you managed to get to sleep, GF.

You must have all had a marvellous time, Nicos. Now they've come over once, maybe they'll be more confident about coming again.

Yet more heavy rain in the night. Currently just tufty clouds almost filling the sky. Nice to see the little bits of blue sky in between the tufts even though it looks like they won't be there for long. More rain forecast for later on.

Off out in a bit for a hospital appointment for Mr Snoop and a mini grory shop while we're in the town. We've eaten ourselves out of house and home as far as sweet things are concerned. Doubtless we'll be buying more.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    • Mornin n’alln’all

So , did you get to sleep GF?…wouldn't it be wonderful if chocolate were the cure for insomnia!

We have a really, really quiet house this morning…it feels so strange!
I think a soak in the tub with my book is calling….

How is everyone getting on with eating up their Xmas foods?
We just have a few mince pies left and a small slice of Crimble cake…and a few gingerbread stars…and of course a bit of chocolate which will keep. I think we judged pretty well this year!

We didn’t have a frost this morning. It was forecast into the New Year , so that was unexpected.
We need to buy some more wild bird feed- having said that, given the amount our granddaughter has fed them over the past week, I’m surprised some of them can still fly!

Have a lovely day peeps…make the most of your happy moments- we all have something to be grateful for.
Speaking of which Snoop ..what on Earth have you been feeding the smiles?…they were particulary hyperactive this morning

        • ^I've promised our Italian friend I'll try my hand at making a pandoro for lunch on Kings' Day. But just in case, we'll get another Lidl classic panettone. I was quite impressed (the one that comes in gold foil packaging with a ribbon on top). And maybe some more chocolates from them, kind of like truffles with flaked chocolate round them. Lidl is an upmarket shop round here, by the way.

          • Good morning

Surprisingly, I fell asleep pretty quickly after my fridge raid, but awoke again at about 5am courtesy of the "flailing elbow." A pillow barricade soon put an end to that and after about an hour I slept again.

The alarm on my phone woke me this time as Royal Mail are supposed to be calling to collect my parcel between 8am and noon. It feels chilly this morning and as an addition to the oversized, knee-length hoodie I am now sporting a pair of Mr GF's fleece "lounge trousers" I am wonderfully warm and comfortable, but avoiding mirrors.

Snoop Puss, I hope Mr Snoop is okay, and the hospital appointment goes well. Treat yourselves to something nice on your grory hop

Nicos, it will probably take a while to get used to the peace and quiet. I'm now imagining a flock of podgy birds waddling around your garden searching for your granddaughter.

I hope Rary and Mrs Rary are okay. I haven't seen him around for a few days.

We still have some goodies in the fridge, definitely enough to last until after tomorrow's supermarket delivery. All the festive nibbles that I've really enjoyed and I was going to order more of, are now out of stock Typical.

I should have a few deliveries this week, due to my nocturnal online shopping. A fleece for a niece, a calendar, a roll of duct tape, and various other boring bits from Amazon. I tend to mainly use the calendar on my phone, but I do like to keep a calendar on my kitchen wall as a backup hard copy of appointments. I was going to order a calendar from the RNLI, a favourite charity, who have come to Mr GF's aid on more than one occasion in the past, including taking him off one of his boats by helicopter (before I met him), but after getting bogged down in their website I ended up ordering the BBC Country File calendar instead.

            Time for a coffee refill.

              Another dry day here )

Good to hear you got back to sleep quick GF.

Nicos we'll be shopping soon we're running out of fresh fruit we still some frozen but no more bananas left.

Snoop were hoping for a Lidl when a new supermarket was being built because they have a good selection of fruit, veg and bakery but we had a Aldi instead. We already have a Tesco, Iceland and a farm butchers so we're not short of places to shop within a 10 min walk.

              Enjoy your day

              • Good Morning All Dull and cold here, but I've done the washing. It will probably have to be dried indoors. It must seem quiet now Nicos. Hope Mr Snoop's appointment goes well. Have a good day

Nicos, wouldn't you wonder how one small person can fill the house with her personality.
GF, I hope you catch up on your sleep.
                  Have a good day all.

                  • Good morning again.

Royal Mail have now collected my parcel The man who collects is a really nice, friendly guy. He was asking if my Christmas puddings had arrived safely in Australia.

Due to getting waylaid by jobs such as sweeping the kitchen floor, I've only just got around to my second mug of coffee.

I've also, after much prodding by one of my sisters, downloaded the Duolingo app to learn Italian and done the first ten minute lesson. In theory I could now order my coffee in ItalianđŸ¤£đŸ¤£ I think that confidence plays a large part in learning languages. It has taken me years to have the confidence to just try to communicate and not care if I made an idiot of myself.

I think that after Mr GF has woken up I really ought to get the vac out and vacuum all the carpets.

                    • Afternoon all, sadly last year saw me add pre diabetes to my list of ailments, so most sweet things are verboten here, I do have the occasional treat of a spoon of honey in my porridge, or high cocoa low sugar square of chocolate. A mince pie every other day if I have not been troughing other things with fructose in it. Sort of got used to the diet, but really don't want to add type 2 to the list.
Christmas was good though spoilt my youngest Grandson having a nasty illness that cancelled Boxing Day whilst he recovered, thankfully he is now well again.
Hogmanay is the big thing here in Scotland, so will be seeing in the Bells, probably at home with Jools Holland, though we did go to the "Fireballs" celebration in Stonehaven the other year.

                        • Prevening All Glad to hear your grandson made a quick recovery burnie. Sounds like you've got the eating regime under control. I find myself having a power nap most days now Lottie. Very refreshing!
I saw my disabled neighbour today, it was his birthday over Christmas. I asked him if he'd enjoyed the cake I left on his doorstep on Christmas Eve. I'd left a bag with some lemon drizzle, a little present and a card, and some bulbs. He hadn't seen it! The bag must have been taken from his doorstep My own fault for being so trusting I suppose Lesson learned.
