  • Morning all, though I could also say afternoon all as it's almost 1 o'clock here.

Breakfast (brunch) here was hummus on toast, lamb's lettuce, tom and onion salad with some radish microgreens. Banana and yogurt for afters. With any luck that will see us through till supper. Better had!

As for chocolates, anything with nuts in, ideally nuts and toffee like the purple Quality Street chocolates. I think I dislike coffee creams so much I'd rather leave them in the box than eat them. And I never saw that advert, GF. I think it'd put me off eating chocolates rather than encourage me to buy them.

Plenty on the cards for today. Some domestics for sure and some paid work too, with any luck.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

Edited: I shall have to look up Hercules Candy, mothhawk. Whoever came up with the idea of cornflour moulds was inspired.

    • So…are people Roses, Celebration or Quality Street fans?

I've decided not to buy a tin this year as they are stupidly expensive here.I’ll see what big boxes I can find for a change. Well, that’s the theory!
Moi?…. I’ve always picked up Celebration out of habit.

      • Nicos, of the three, I'd go for Celebrations, but I'm not really a fan. A big tub of certain of the Lindt chocolates would be my favourite. You can pick and mix the ones you want in it.

They are a ridiculous price though.

        • When I was a kid, my parents always bought Quality Street. But a box of Roses would inevitably turn up from somewhere.

I'm not sure Mr Snoop and I have ever bought a big tub of the usual seasonal chocolates. Nowadays we'll buy a bar (or two...) of turrón, often described as nougat in translations, but my favourite version is more like Middle Eastern halva. And some nice chocolate and biscuits. Mince pies are essential. But not the seasonal pud or cake. Does this make us a pair of curmudgeons? I suppose it might do. But young curmudgeons, before you go getting any ideas about us, Rary!

            • Good afternoon, unfortunately I didnt get the board onto the bed as it needed cut and we had rain last night and definitely wasnt going to cut it in the house, there is a something about pushing your luck too far however I now have managed to get it cut so will try and get it onto the bed without OH noticing, OH is a bit of a chocaholic me I dont really bother about sweet things, if I am offered one I might take it, if I'm not it doesn't bother me, now sandwiches thats a different matter, and there's nothing to beat a piece with butter and jam, preferably blackcurrant, but anything else will do, though a piece made with strong cheese and blackcurrant now that runs a very close second.
Snoop did you hear about the minister who when visiting an old parishioner got held a dish of nuts, he graciously took them, started eating them then offered them to the old lady to take some, no thanks she said, I cant eat nuts, that's why I only suck the chocolate off them.
Was going to go out to the greenhouse but OH is feeling a bit low and in pain so I can put that on hold for now, she managed to get an appointment with the doctor for Monday morning so hopefully he can give her something to help ease the pain. Have a good day folks and find something to smile about then pass them on

                  • No, rary, I've not seen the advert nor have I heard that story. Perhaps I should beware of people bearing nuts.

Hope Mrs rary gets some pain relief that works. Constant pain is very wearing. Hard to keep your chin up when you feel like that. Gentle sympathetic hug from me.

They also make a chocolate bark that is just crisps coated in chocolate. Strange idea but a popular seller apparently. Sounds yuck to me!

                      • Well, amazingly, having searched the supermarket website I've discovered it's cheaper, per kilo, to buy the smaller boxes than the two kilo big box. Maybe I'll treat us with my lotto win!

I reckon a bag of each of these, my favourites, would give cost £29 and would weigh 1.074 kg.

                        • So 2kg would be £58 instead of £95. I guess the extra £37 pays for the hand picking and hand packing in the pretty box.

                          • I’m not too keen on sweets I think I ate far too many sweets as a kid. My mum worked at a sweet factory bringing home bags full from the company shop on Fridays.
I do like dark chocolate digestives and Poundlands mini chocolate logs but that’s about it for sweet things.

                            • Goodness, Bren, you're lucky. I find it very hard to resist the call of chocolate when I know there's some in the house.

And thanks for the link, mothhawk. I've bookmarked it for later viewing.

Sounds like a good plan, GF.

                              • Good evening all...got some work done in the garden before some family came visiting this afternoon.
My daughter in law is organising a fate for charity and had talked me into making jams and preserves for the event.

As for my favourite chocolate, it has to be black magic.
Not a fan of sweet things but I could make an exception for these.

Rary, I hope your wifecan find something that helps to manage her pain.
