rary, you forgot your marriage licence which cost 10 shillings back in 1597. Can you imagine if it had to be renewed annually. There might be a "few" arguments and more divorces.

Ten bob must have been a lot of money back in those days. Not sure rary is quite that old. Or you!

Morning all.

Lovely pale pink sky earlier, but no rain forecast.

Rary I believe you still need a dog licence in Northern Ireland and it costs £12.50, so it hasn't kept in line with inflation. 7/6d in 1987 would be about £23 now. Apparently dog licences were originally introduced as a way of raising revenue, not to keep track of the dog population, but eventually admin costs outweighed income so it was discontinued.

More painting on the cards today, the walls are undercoated, so I need to start on the woodwork.

Tea first though. Time to get the kettle on!

Morning all.

Surprise treat for Jack this morning - a walk with E and his dog. Went really well. Next one Wednesday. We set off quite early with the smiles for company before they headed off. Probably well on their way to you by now.

About to make some breakfast and then try and do some domestics and paid work while Jack is out for the count after the walk. I'll make a pot of tea if anyone fancies a cup.

Guess who had 12 hrs sleep last night ?

I’ve been up an hour or so but needed to get some important emails etc sorted.

3 days ago we ordered a new telly. The one we have is very old and we thought it’d be a good back up one in our second lounge. So…brilliant reviews , good price, so we ordered it. It arrived yesterday…with a cracked screen …so it’s packed up for collection tomorrow and the replacement one will be dispatched on Wednesday.

What with that, and the Karcha…. What will the third thing be?…or was that the borrowed brush cutter? ( which OH is using at this very moment) …yeh…it’d be that…so phew!…that’s my 3 things gone wrong for this month at least….hopefully
Modern day problems eh….

Right, well, I need to get a wiggle on. I have stewed apple to pulp and freeze ( as opposed to freezing in lightly stewed chunks) and chilli apple jelly to make.
Maybe some gardening later…but it does look like we too may have some rain due too.

Afternoon, been away in Ayrshire for a week so only pop in now and then to have a quick nosy as there is no internet. Amazingly we had some good weather although Sunday it was blowing a hoolie. OH managed a paddle at Ballantrae while I got my skin exfoliated by the wind and sand 😁

Good morning all.

Comparatively, not a bad night's sleep, although I was editing my shopping list at 3am. I'm still snuggled down under the duvet. I definitely prefer cooler, but not cold, nights.

No storms forecast here, or even rain, just grey murk with maybe the occasional glimpse of the sun.

I peeked out last night just before I went to bed to see if Mr Hedgehog was around. He wasn't, but there was a fox instead nosing around.

.......... I'm now in a more human state ...... the coffee (and banana loaf) has done it's job.

Oh yes, modern day problems, Nicos. Much as I can watch and enjoy programs on TV set a hundred years ago and, for a fleeting moment, think how nice it looks, I know that I would have hated day to day life back then. Apart from the lack of modern appliances and the sheer drudgery of everyday life, just the unreasonable constraints and expectations of conformity would have been intolerable.

I’ve puréed and frozen the apple but not got around to the apple chilli jam yet- obviously the garden was calling!. Well, that’s my excuse anyway I should at least find and sterilise the jars ready for tomorrow.

Anyone fancy a brew?…kettle’s just boiled and I have slabs of Dorset apple cake to go with it.

Hibou has just brought in her snack….a dead mouse. Yum

.Afternoon all,Snoop how did last night go,welcome back Jay,0nly 2 weeks before our holiday,have been doing another batch of cakes for tomorrow,am tired now,so having a little rest ,then its dinner time,wish i could post pics on here,will have to see if i can get it via my phone,i did try getting the vine up,the other week and got no where,see how i get on now i am in a better place,the problem is that the laptop will not take the pics from the phone,then i have to see if i got to downsize the pics to post,i had no bother before i got the lappy,son has set my old PC up,and have to sort it oiut as how the heck to work it,i am now used to using a touch screen,and my brain gets boggled,have a lovely evening everyone

Very early start today - we are expecting an oil delivery for our boiler. ETA?….7am - 1pm
Our previous company have stopped selling the type we need so this is a new company. Hopefully all will go well - the guy taking the order was faffing around quite a bit, so hopefully it’s actually been booked in

The broken TV is being collected by the carrier ‘ at some point today’ Looks like we could end up hanging around most of the day.
Anyway….being positive, it’s not raining yet so I should be able to get the apple chilli jam made and then get more gardening done.

Lottie- I’m crossing my fingers you manage to post some piccies- it really does sound like you are massively transforming your garden!
I always admire how people can transform gardens/ veggie plots.

Morning all,not had a goodnight again,the trapped nerves have been screaming,after a rub with cream and pills,i eventually dropped off later on,so i sat and opened my cards,choir starts again this morning,it is for the Christmas concert,then i am being taken out for a carvery,
Thank you Nicos,it is slow going,doing,things one's selfes,we are not teenagers any more,the next job is more raking for the lawn area,i hope to lay the turf after our holiday,so hope for dryer weather,time to get myself organized for the day,and some breakfast,have a good day all
