I’ve been meaning to make mozzie nets for our Velux windows for years but never got around to doing it. I think I need to shake a leg with that!
Nicos, I bought these to keep out flies and midges. (Other brands are available). Easy to fix and remove.

It's too hot to be outdoors. Snoop, I don't know how you stand so much heat. I look at the garden and feel as wilted as it looks.

I made gazpacho for lunch with tinned toms, and courgettes as I had no cucumber, very refreshing, and I wouldn't have thought of it if Snoop hadn't mentioned it yesterday, so thanks, Snoop!

        • Ooo…we have rain! ( should have started the Pizza oven earlier!)

At least I have picked up all the windfall mirabelles whilst they were dry!
So far I have about 30 kg in bowls . 5kg in the freezer . Have given away 10kg…and there is still twice that on the tree

We’ve sent word to friends to come and collect now that I have all I need.
Cant stand waste…I hope they get claimed …

          • Good afternoon, a bit on the warm side today 27c, OH is struggling with the heat, then got on to me because the heat doesn't effect me that much, but as I to!d her I had to work 12hr shifts in conditions warmer than this, that of course was just a we reminder for her so that she knows how I had to work so she could spend my pension, anyway, I had to go to the bank earlier to lift money to pay for gates that we got fitted yesterday, was asked why I wanted the money, so informed them it was for work carried out at home so,was then asked if I had an invoice, for the job, which I don't, was then told as it was for work
completed that was ok, once I got my money I asked why they needed that information when I wanted to lift my money, the young lady explained that it was to ensure I wasnt being scammed, as a good number of customers have been recently, so, I said, if some one is forcing me to lift money they could do something about that, yes, she said so I reported my wife for telling me I had to lift some money, oh there's nothing we can do about that, she said with the other teller adding, No chance,(the bank was empty so she heard our conversation), now I'm not sure like me they are too feart to say onything, or if it's AN all us girls together sort of thing. Anyway enjoy the day and find something to make you smile then pass it on

Your lucky Snoop, the job consisted of the contractor making two large metal gates for the driveway, one personal gate and a hand rail, all galvanised then dipped in paint, removal of old gates and fitting the new ones and handrail, once I lifted the money I had to go into a newsagents to buy some paper hankies, as for some reason my eyes were watering quite badly, possibly some dust or grit blown into them, yet there wasnt a breath of wind, don't understand it

Though it cost a fair bit, once everything was fitted I asked the two men doing the job about payment, the owner of the company said, just pay by a bank transfer, of course I dont do,bank transfers so he said thats fine just get it down to us whenever you can, what a nice show of trust, not a thing you see very often nowadays

Ah, probably wouldn't unless the window is inset. If it's flush with the ceiling then I guess not.

                      • Mornin n’alln’all
A lovely misty start to the day.
Last night OH was sat out at the bottom of the field under the shelter and a fox sauntered past him about 12 feet away. How lovely!….but such a brave fox might not be such good news for our chooks
I know they are behind electric fencing…which have worked well for the last 18 years…but it does concern me.

Today our son heads home. Always sad to part from loved ones isn’t it?

We have friends coming in the afternoon to collect mirabelles. Hopefully I can get some more juiced and frozen, along with more windfall apples. I think I’ll go and see if there are any blackberries too.

Whats everyone else up to today?…anything exciting?

Whatever it is… share those lovely smiles….you never know who is in need of seeing it x

                        • Morning all.

They sound like decent people, your workmen, rary. A good find.

Hope it's not long before you get to see your son again, Nicos.

As for here, I'm about to walk the dog. Ordinarily it would be a day for going out with E and his dog, but he hurtles along and I've got a bad back after shifting furniture yesterday, so decided against it for today. Spotted a lovely fox in a field yesterday, too. Backlit by the rising sun and hunting, probably a mouse, by jumping up and pounding down on the ground. Totally oblivious of me. And Jack was totally oblivious of it too, as there was a bank of grass just blocking his view of it. Phew!

Long list of domestics for today. With any luck I'll wear Jack out on the walk so he'll sleep and let me get on with them. Sweeping and mopping are impossible when he's up and about. He has his own broom - runs around with it and is a danger to our ankles and shins - but the one I'm going backwards and forwards with is always the one he wants.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

                          • Good morning all.

I think I tossed and turned all night, very little sleep. It was just too hot and too sticky.

Snoop, you should get Mr Snoop to video Jack the next time he's on broom pinching alert. It sounds entertaining .... for an onlooker.

I've got the Thursday Grory Hop coming between 10am and 11am. MORE ice cream.

I ordered an oil sprayer/pourer off Amazon a while ago. I'm so impressed with it, the sprayer is great and I've got far more control pouring oil than when I just use a bottle, especially good for making mayonnaise. Yesterday, while looking for something else I noticed them again so sent one direct to one of my my sisters. That should arrive today.

I ought to think about making some more jam, but not until it cools down a bit. Slaving over a hot stove for ages in this heat would be my idea of hell.

Off to make some coffee now.

                            • Good Morning All Hot again here, but there's a bit of a breeze today. My Grory Hop is this morning too, between 11 and 12 and I've realised looking at the receipt that I've forgotten to order strawberries or ice cream Have a good day

                              • Any chance you could send a link for the oil spray, GF? I've bought a few now and have had no success. It could be the local oil is especially thick, but I think it's more likely the sprays themselves. Always glad for a recommendation, see if I can find the same brand here.

As for a video, this seems like a good moment to say that Mr Snoop is in a proper pickle. Can barely walk at all and even then only on a good day, and he has lost the use of both arms and one hand. Bit of a shock to both of us but especially him, as it happened pretty well overnight and has resulted in considerable pain. MRI on Monday to see what's going on and if anything can be done. Meanwhile, he has great strength of mind and is coping.
