The suns out GH's been watered and its looking like being a good day.

I do like the sound of vol au vents filled with mincemeat, nice and quick in the air fryer as well.

    enjoy your day

    • Mornin n’alln’all

Looks like today is going to be a very hot’un for us.
Last night we had a brief thunderstorm with heavy rain. Good job we were too tired to sit out again watching out for the shooting stars!
Its at its peak tonight, but the full moon is making it difficult to spot most of them.
I do need to get some ironing done today- so that’ll be my first task after breskfast…along with cooking down and freezing another big bowl of windfall apples. At least they are getting bigger now, so much easier to peel!

Have a great day peeps…don’t overdo things in this heat… I’ve just spotted the smiles overhead heading north to where they think is going to be much cooler…I think they may well be disappointed en route at least!

Snoop…How are temperatures your way …it’s looking really hot down there?

      • Good morning the sun is out today, just getting ready to take OH shopping, though don't know how it will go as she's pretty sore with the sciatica, however I just do as I'm told . Anyway here's me trying to loose weight and all I am seeing is recipes for goodies, though to be honest I prefer sandwiches, my failing is I cant resist a good bread, which brings me to another point, when did you last see thin sliced bread, health experts go on about the sweet things but do nothing about the basics, what you might call the bread and butter of food for children and in my case adults, I think the thick sliced bread means you but y more as you go through it quicker. Now you have to excuse me for mentioning this word, but thats twice in my recollection the Nicos has mentioned Christmas, please Nicos dont start getting too excited about it, as you have a several months to go yet, just keep calm and think of something else and the time may pass quicker, I am now wondering whw I will get for ........ this year, I should maybe start a list and drop hints, how long do I have to wait Oh the anticipation.. Anyway have a good day and pass on the smiles
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

        • Good morning all.

I struggled to get to sleep last night, however I've still managed about 7 hours with just a couple of minor interruptions.

I've got my normal grory hop, minus any wine, due this morning. Also an Amazon delivery, which is unfortunately arriving via Royal Mail, so that could be any time ...or never.

The forecast is 28°C here today. Maybe a rain shower this morning, too.

            • Good morning all, we have misty sunshine here with a forecast for fog,
Greenhouse is watered, laundry is out and some d9mestics on thecards.
              Visiting my sister this afternoon.

Mincemeat vol au vents sounds lovely for the c season.
Rary, I thoroughly agree with you, no sweet tooth here and much prefer a savoury sandwich,
Have a good day all and be careful in the sun,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

                • Afternoon all.

Late on parade. No idea where the days are going. If it's true that there's no rest for the wicked, I must be very bad.

Anyway, dog walk, Jean de Florette-style water run and grory hop so far.

Currently sitting in front of a little electric fan to cool down after all the exertions.

The temperatures are not good, Nicos. Yesterday we hit 42 ºC. Supposedly cooler today, but not by much. With any luck, it will be a bit cooler tonight. Last night was described as tropical (26 ºC low). No fires locally. Dreadful fires in France, I see. And even Edinburgh.

Right, better see about some lunch. Gazpacho and raspberries and Greek yogurt. Delicious and no effort. Perfect.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

                  • That is very hot Snoop . I thought it was bad enough here…but it pales into insignificance compared to you.

Ah…Jean de Florette…we often talk about those two films here during the summer months!
We did, however, get a brief, but heavy , downpour last night…every drop counts!

We had cold pea pod soup last night for starters, and that too was deliciously refreshing!

                    • Good morning all.

I think I've awakened because I was just too hot. Nothing like your temperatures though, Snoop. We're heading into the low thirties today and that is too hot for me. At least we don't get mosquitos here. I think the combination of hot nights and mozzie bites is awful.

Nicos, ironing in this heat sounds like a form of torture.

We tried the much anticipated vol au vents yesterday evening. They were smaller than the ones that I remember from my childhood, but very nice. I cooked four in the air fryer.

I think I'm going to try and sneak another 2 or 3 hours of sleep now.

                      • Morning
Phew was warm yesterday, not as phew as those further down but a bit phew for us.
Pottered in the shade and even cleaned window etc outside then went for scan results. Nothing horrific showing and they're fairly happy but want me to have further checks so I've to go for another type of scan that I've never heard of and maybe a tube into have a look. Eek.
But today is going to be another warm one, I think I will potter nr the pond and cut it back a bit, already done it once and its all grown back like a mini jungle.

                        • Morning all.

Sounds like relatively good news on the scan results, CG. Hope all the other tests go well.

The heatwave continues here Got days of this to go, but at least the nights are a bit cooler. Mozzie nets are the answer, GF. Really good knowing they're on the outside and I'm on the inside. Like being in a tent when it's raining! Except Jack has made huge holes in ours. Amazingly, the mozzies haven't found their way in. Hope those aren't famous last words.

Off into the village for a few errands and then back to estivate (I just looked that up - I didn't think hibernate would be the right word in summer). Very behind with work (what's new?), so really must try to do some.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

CG …Great to hear your results don’t show anything obvious!..and even more great that they continue being so thorough with their investigations xx

We have a cloudy start to the day…but still hot.Our local weather says very high risk of thunder and lightning. Nothing showing up on any maps, but it’s getting darker by the minute!

We don’t get many mozzies here, but the odd one we do have at bedtime don’t half make the most of an open buffet
I’ve been meaning to make mozzie nets for our Velux windows for years but never got around to doing it. I think I need to shake a leg with that!

Flo…have a great day with Frankie- hope he’s coping with the heat

Talking about shaking a leg…I best get breakfast sorted for the family. It’d be nice to eat outdoors before the rains start!

Have a great day everyone…and remember to share those lovely smiles

A visit to the physio this morning....still having problems with my leg.

CG, good that you got you scan results and nothing serious discovered.
Have a god day all and don't forget the sun cream,
