  • Cherry lolly sounds nice GF & with the warm weather I don't think I'd mind if it melted on me lol.

Cooler here today thankfully but I draw the line where the heating's concerned too Flo - jumpers, blankies & woolly socks first!

Well done on your ironing nicos - I'm not even sure what cupboard our iron is in I dig it out so rarely & I'm not going to pretend to be embarrassed I was only reminding mum the other day that she's a crazy person ironing undies & fitted sheets especially in this weather (although I say the same in winter) life's too short for that kind of nonsense

    • Bren…about another 4 hrs…. And then there will be 3 more on Saturday which will be soul destroying if I leave it all until then

So..I did leave it in the end, but will do more in the morning.
(Andraste…absolutely nothing of mine ever gets ironed…but OH occasionally wears linen shirts which need ironing…but he does those!)
I caught up on other domestics this afternoon instead which was great.
OH collected 3 full buckets of rotting cherries out of the lawn today…and there are still more both to pick out , and drop from the branches.Such a waste….and we need to be careful…the wasps and hornets have finally found them .

I did nip out for a quick grory hop and ended up buying some mini magnums…you lot are a bad influence And nope- they didn’t have any biscoff lollies

      • Evening all.

We've had some rain at last, not a lot, maybe half an hour's worth, but every little helps.

I picked 2lbs of hedgerow blackberries on my walk yesterday, the first this year, so I made some blackberry and apple crumbles for the freezer, then a small blackberry jelly with leftover juice. (I cook the blackberries before making a crumble, otherwise there is too much juice and the crumble goes soggy).

4 hours of ironing, Nicos! Is it sheets and stuff? You need a rotary ironing press to take the elbow grease out of the job!

        • I had an ironing press MH…it took me longer to do and I made a right mess of them…,.. yep, just cotton sheets ,duvet covers ,pillowslips and teatowels.

          Picking blackberries already?..wow!
We’ve had the first of our apple windfalls over the past few days, not at all ready, but they’ll make good apple cider vinegar!

            • Morning all.

I'm with you, Andraste, and probably Jay too - no ironing done here.

The weatherfolk say we've got another mini heatwave starting today. Temps top 30s, even low 40s for us. The sun is proving them right.

Work calls, but I put in a reasonable day yesterday and am getting back on track. I just need to learn to say no... Not very good at that except when talking to Jack.

Right, on with the show. The smiles left in a hurry when they spotted Jack and Frankie having a face-to-face encounter. Jack behaved very well but Frankie was giving it a right good growl. All went OK in the end and the smiles really should have hung around a bit longer, as Missie and Jack are playing tag round the house.

              Have a great day, everyone.

Hopefully Frankie will soon get Jack in his rightful place in the pecking order!

                Ahhhh….low 40s C ?….ahhhhh….

                  • Good morning all.

It rained, on and off, all day yesterday. Very welcome too. The temperature dropped again and I nearly put the heater on in the car instead of the air-con.

Today is quite overcast with a pleasant 23°C forecast. I think the washer can work overtime as today is the only day this week with no rain forecast.

The hairdresser is due at 11.30.

After that a trip to the chemist to pick up a prescription for Mr GF and then dropping a sample off at the surgery for him.

I used to iron everything, only a few years ago. I don't know when I suddenly stopped but it is now a very, very rare event that the ironing board sees the light of day. I think really tight fitting fitted cotton sheets may have been the turning point.

Snoop, low 40s sounds horrific. I hope it's only a short heatwave.

                    Time for more caffeine now.

                    • Good morning all, bright and breezy here.
Nothing out of the ordinary, just the usual domestics
I still iron some of our clothes and pillowcases, fitted sheets are a blessing.
I ususlly wait for a wet day so I don't feel I am wasting gardening time.
Not a lit else to share, have a good day all,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                      • I'm glad to see so many likeminded iron-dodgers

Andraste…absolutely nothing of mine ever gets ironed…but OH occasionally wears linen shirts which need ironing…but he does those!
A liberated man is a wonderful thing - I have one of those too

My OH was the motivator for me giving up ironing - I got fed up of him pulling things out of the middle/bottom of shelf of lovely crisp neatly folded clothes, most of them falling to the floor, then him shoving them back in so they were more creased than before the ironing was done!

I gradually came to realise that most stuff these days (if folded/hung properly after drying on the line) doesn't need ironing anyway. I do make sure I'm well-pressed if we're of somewhere special

My heart goes out to you Nicos having all those hours of ironing responsibilities - now you've mentioned it not being your personal items I've a niggling something that you have some sort of accommodation business where people expect nicely ironed sheets etc.?

                        • Morning

A good day here not to hot but still t-shirt and shorts.

Looking at my blackberries it won’t be long till they’ll be ready then I’ll freeze some until our apples are ripe. There’s alway lots of good apple and blackberry recipes to use them up.

It’s good Maisie and jack play nice, just need Jack to realise Frankie is in charge.

I only iron curtains and the ribbon I use for crafting, the ironing board is handy for hanging rucksacks.

                          enjoy your day.

                          • Andraste …yep, we have a couple of gites….but steadily reducing the weeks they are open year on year.
The income over the years has paid for all the house renovations. Which are nearly finished..yippee!
Then hopefully we can fully retire and make the most of our campervan
