      • Good morning.

After a half decent night's sleep I'm ready to fight another day.

It's drizzling at the moment and a pleasant temperature, but forecast to be warmer and bright this afternoon.

I've got an online grory hop arriving between 10am and 11am. There's only one substitution and it is actually to my advantage. I am also slowly managing to get my milk hoarding/ordering under control.

I intend ringing the hospital again this morning to see if there is an update on my brother in law. If it is not as hot this afternoon I'll try to visit again. The problem is that they have closed the two car parks nearest to the entrance. It looks as if they are building on one of them. (They should build a multistorey carpark where you could borrow wheelchairs .... like you have shopping trolleys in a supermarket, but I bet they don't).The other car parks are a fair hike away for the less mobile, and have no shade. Normally Mr GF is happy to stay in the car for half an hour with music on but it was, unbelievably, too hot yesterday and I daren't leave him with the engine and air con on, or leave him home alone. An accident waiting to happen!

I think I'll make some more raspberry buns this morning.

Oooohhh! The rain has stopped and the sun is peeping out. already.

        • I have had an email from my niece. She has always loved Morello cherries. As a child she would come with my sister and raid my tree at the allotment. As a teenager she would bring a couple of hunky young men with her and get them to do most of the work.

I bought her her own tree (a.k.a. a dead looking stick), for her birthday in January as she has just bought her first house, with a garden. It is on dwarf rootstock and it said it would fruit this year. She has emailed to tell me that she has 20 cherries on it and has already netted it as she does not intend sharing with the blackbirds.

                • I got quite a surprise today. I was trying to find out exactly why they were keeping my brother in law in the hospital and getting nowhere. Eventually, I was told that they could only give that information to next of kin. I was on the verge of giving in when I was asked my name. I gave it. Yes, for the hospital, unbelievably, he nominated me as his next of kin. Having more information I am actually now "slightly" optimistic that they can sort out some of his problems. We shall see!

Mr GF is not right, but much better than he was a couple of days ago I am glad to say.

                  Hopefully things are looking up.

                    • GF…hope today is more successful in finding out about your BIL.
Might he be eligible for several weeks of home care now …or has that been stopped?

I wasn’t Next of kin for my mother when she was dying and they would only tell me “she’s managed to eat some breakfast”
It was during Covid and I wasn’t allowed to visit her. In total exasperation I remembered the private pet name my father used for her and asked the nurse to go and ask mom - whilst I was on the phone- to verify that only I would know that- confirming who I was.
Really sick though as she was, she giggled and nodded…after that the wrote my ‘password” into their Cardex for future reference….until she moved ward…

I can understand the need for privacy but it can be very distressing in certain circumstances.

                      • Good morning.

Nicos, I see it's not just me up at silly 'o clock. I've been doing puzzles for an hour, but they haven't sent me back to sleep.

I know that there still is home care as our 99 year old friend had it when he came out of hospital after he was in there for a month after breaking his leg. (The worst month of his life, he said ... and this from a D Day veteran.) I don't think my brother in law will want or need it. He is a very private, independent person generally. Hopefully when he has finished his intravenous antibiotics he will be discharged. 🤞

I am now deciding whether to try going back to sleep or getting up and making coffee........

Did you get back to sleep gf?…I just gave up, made a brew and no doubt will regret it later

Tis a dull morning here, wouldn’t surprise me if it rained.

I picked my first sweet peas yesterday and don’t they smell absolutely wonderful!
More gardening and domestics today. I managed a quick grory hop yesterday, and I kid you not….some cornettos accidentally jumped into my shopping basket Not had one for years! And yes…the song came to mind

Enjoy your day peeps and remember what to do with your lovely smiles!

                          • Morning all.

Wishing your BiL best of luck, GF. To be fair to the medical lot, at least they went to the effort of trying to identify why he was falling so often rather than just picking him up and leaving it at that.

                            Your flowers sound lovely, Nicos.

Yesterday wasn't a bad day for us here. The car passed its MOT and I passed mine. None of the scary things wrong with me at least. One advisory, I guess you'd call it, but not at all unexpected and good to have 'official' advance warning. More tests in six months, just to see if the warning has sunk in I presume.

We even had a bit of rain last night. Not much, but enough to bring temperatures right down. Oh, and in other good news, our fig tree looks like we've got burgeoning fruit. Every year till now, it's put out buds in February/March. This year it's now. No idea why, as late winter was quite mild here by usual standards, if extremely wet. So, looking like it could be a good year for figs as well as olives.

Mucho worko on the cards for today, so better hop to it.

Have a great day, everyone. Wave to the smiles as they pass by for me. They saw I was in such a good mood this morning I didn't need them to hang around, so set off in a great hurry.

                            • Unable to sleep I came across a load of short video links created by Eugenio Monesma.
He has spent the last 40 years travelling Spain recording artisan traditional trades and traditions and presenting them as short documentaries on FB and YouTube.
There are literally hundreds of them…most in Spanish with subtitles, but the rest in English.
                              Really quite fascinating.

By heck we have things easier these days!

Have you heard of him Snoop?
