  • Good evening, was missing in action yesterday, as I was treating my grandsons to a days fishing after a very nice day on Sunday I was hopping for another nice day, unfortunately it was cold and wet but the boys thought it was a great day I am now wondering if I dreamt the weather conditions, yet my clothes were wet and as it has been a nice sunny day today and warm also possibly I did just dream the bad wether yesterday. The usual Tuesday shopping, then a visit to our friend, who is a very keen gardener though not able to do too much, nor afford to buy that many plants so I have told her that I will provide fuchsia, begonias and French marigolds for her, as she likes to put out baskets and tubs I am hopping this will help her enjoy her garden, I
I am glad you enjoyed you swim Nicos, but please be careful when entering cold water, it can be risky for people of my age, so possibly a greater risk for you at your age, but glad you enjoyed it right for getting out to the garden while its still nice, so enjoy your evening and keep smiling
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

      • Mornin n’alln’all
We’ve had loads of splashy stuff going on most of the night. At least the weeds will be easier to pull out of the gravel driveway again after this. There seem to be a sudden growth of self seeded sycamore seedings growing …along with the dandelions..

Domestics first thing then hopefully get some gardening done later

Rary…the pool is heated!….I’m not a very hardy sort of lass anymore
Thats a lovely gesture sharing plants with your friend. She’ll be smiling every time she looks at her baskets throughout the summer.
What sort of fishing did you do with the lads?…fly fishing? We’ve been watching the series ‘Gone Fishing’ with Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse . Such a lovely series!

Must be time for a brew?…anyone care to join me?

        Enjoy your day folks x

        • Morning all.

Definitely ready for a brew, Nicos, ta.

Got my breadmaker put back together yesterday with a new thermostat, but it still won't prove the dough, so I guess it must be the circuit board that's not working properly. Oh well, it's more than 20 years old, so it's definitely earned its keep, and it will still knead the dough, which is the main reason I got it in the first place, as my wrists began to object to the kneading process.

            • Good morning all.

I had a wander in here around 3 or 4 am, but all I could here was someone snoring.

The sun is already out this morning and we have a forecast of 17°C later today. We are expected to reach the low 20s early next week. Time to dust the shorts off? The sandals have been my preferred footwear for a couple of weeks now.

I keep promising myself that I'll have a wardrobe clearout and get rid of all the clothes I will realistically never wear again, particularly all the size 10s and 12s. If some charity would shove a sack through my letterbox it might just give me the impetus.

Lottie, I hope that you start feeling better now that the weather is improving.

MH, sad about the breadmaker. At least you tried.

I spent most of yesterday doing domestic duties, so I think today I deserve a trip out somewhere in the sunshine.

              • Morning

Overnight rain here just what my garden needed.

GF I've not had my shorts on yet but when the weather improves they'll be out.

Shame about your bread maker MH but if its works for kneading its still handy.

                Enjoy your day

                  • Pah…the hot water heater part of the central heating isn’t working…always seems to go wrong just before guests arrive
At least the company is prepared to prioritise us, so today or tomorrow at the latest. Then we need to cross our fingers they can do a temporary repair until a replacement part arrives…..
                    Theres always sometging isn’t there?

On a brighter note- I’ve just realised it’s St George’s Day today.
I guess that we did have a Full English for breakfast…without the bacon and sausages… nor the baked beans…nor the black pudding…nor the fried bread! ( aka scrambled egg on toast with chopped mushrooms and tomatoes!) served with a big mug of tea!
Pity we don’t have roses out- ever- on this day.

Nicos, isn't there always something to go wrong, snd always at the wrong time
Hope you can get it sorted,

Shorts, I did wear them in Spain but thry sre back in the drawer.

                      • Evening all.

I have a plan, re breadmaker.

I shall run it empty on the dough setting for each program, and set a timer so that when it is midway through what should be the proving stage I can check the internal temperature with a probe. I've tried it on the rye bread setting already, and the temperature 18 minutes from finish was 32.5C, which sounds perfect for bread proving. So maybe some of the programs might work, and it's just the two I have used all its life (white bread and wholemeal bread) that have died of exhaustion. Fingers crossed in hope...

I'm wide awake and listening to the dawn chorus again. What an uncivilised time of day.

I've just made a brew if you fancy?
I've also just started a bread off and deciding whether to shop today or tomorrow.

                              • Morning, CG. I've managed to doze on and off for about an hour but I think I'll get up now. At least it's light, even if it's only 8°C. I'm making coffee if you fancy some.

I've got another online shop due between 10 and 11 today. I've just had a confirmation email about it. The only thing unavailable is from the toiletries aisle and is not urgent.

I think I'll call around and visit our 99 year old friend later today and take him some marmalade. He has improved a lot in the last couple of weeks at home. When I rang him yesterday he was washing up in the kitchen. He insists that he is never, ever going to hospital again and I can understand why, particularly that hospital.

Time to organise Mr GF now and get the washer earning it's keep.
