  • Good evening all.
Nicos..so pleased to hear Hibou is still fighting back...
Weather has greatly improved with sunny days yesterday and today.
    Have a good evening all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Grey and windy here, showery forecast. Yesterday's rain turned out to be a nice sunny day with rain overnight. I'd taken mum for her haircut followed by a visit to the cafe for carrot cake and hot chocolate and then her grory hop so the sunshine helped. She was shattered though.
Will go and do our grory today.

        • Mornin n’alln’all

Dull but still here with the forecast of a warmer day ahead.
          Happy with that

Snoop - I can’t get over that rain map you posted on the weather thread
Do you get much surface water accumulating with all that ?

This morning we have a very different pussy cat…what a difference 24hrs on different medication has made.
I could get used to all this purring again…such a sweetie.
Do please give your pets an extra hug/ stroke/ treat from me this morning - they don’t last long….precious moments need remembering.

Yesterday I found some unplanted bulbs from the autumn …hidden away in the barn ….so I best get those planted asap. Certainly today or tomorrow. The new borders aren’t quite ready yet, so they’ll probably go into tubs for now. Should have done that in the first place.

Apart from that, I’m not quite sure what today will bring- I’ve been rather discombobulated recently with the upset about Hibou.
A grory hop is a must in the next couple of days for sure….I’ve been finding excuses all week not to go

What’s everyone else up to over the coming weekend? Fingers crossed we all have some good gardening weather.

Enjoy your day peeps…and remember that smile…I certainly have plenty to spare this morning

          • Morning all.

My mum used to love a trip to the supermarket café, CG. Amazing how good her local Sainsbury's fish and chips were. Ginormous portions. I could never finish mine, though she always polished hers off.

Only a small amount of work today, thank goodness. But lots of tedious admin. Dull at the moment, but should be dry tomorrow morning and Sunday, so I'll get a bit of weeding in.

Meanwhile, I had a delivery of a box of veg from an organic grower yesterday. Some of it is a bit ropey, to be honest, but most of the box was filled with a huge amount of vibrant chard and some curly kale. Mr Snoop looked at them and I could see his heart fall. He can't abide spinach - possibly one of those genetic things, he keeps trying it but there's absolutely no way he can eat it. So what to do with the chard and kale? I don't grow them and have never bought them because I expect him not to want to eat them. I'm hoping to turn the kale into the kind of seaweed you get in Chinese restaurants. But what to do with the chard? It's rainbow chard, so looks beautiful. Just a very large amount and green and spinachy in Mr Snoop's eyes... All advice welcome.

            Have a great day, everyone.

Edited to add: Great news about Hibou. I'll send over a few smiles for her to play with.

            • Good morning.

Nicos, it's so good to hear about Hibou. Your new vet sounds amazing.

It's rather grey and cloudy here now although we did have a bit of sunshine at some totally antisocial hour. I know because I hadn't closed the curtains properly and it was shining on my face, which woke me up. Today's forecast is a maximum of 10°C, whereas yesterday we reached 19°C and I even got my thick, brushed cotton, quilt cover dry outdoors. I think washing dried in the sunshine smells so much nicer than all the fake fabric conditioner pongs.

              Have a great day everyone.

We've had overnight rain so the garden looks fresh.

Snoop I use both chard and kale in soups, gratins, stir fries and curries they're sort of interchangeable in recipes.

It was perfect rain. Some days very heavy with puddles everywhere, followed by a few days of drizzle, allowing the heavy rain to sink in. The weeds have really enjoyed the conditions - the cloud at night meant no frost as well - so they're enormous. But the ground is so wet that even though I can walk on the paths I made, the weeds come out but with a great load of clay stuck to the roots. I'm thinking of trying to take the secateurs to them, cutting them off at the growing point below ground and leaving the roots in the soil. I don't think it will be easy, though. But better that than nothing. The bindweed will just have to wait for another day...

                    • Many congratulations Flo!…you must feel so proud of her!
Another reason for us to celebrate with you this time

I’m always at a loss of what to do with Swiss chard too Snoop- OH grows lots of it and most seems to end up in the freezer …then ignored. Ending up in quiches etc as padding
Its not that I don’t like it, but I could do with some different recipes too.
                      This curry looks rather nice..

Well, it’s started drizzling…so much for the forecast. Indoor ‘things’ today then- at least for now!

Is it worth seeing if you can be admitted on a cancelation just to bring it forward- giving you more chance of feeling up to parr in time for the holiday?

                            • Afternoon lottie dolly. I'd be worried too, if I were in your position. But it might not be anything as significant as you're fearing. Even a haemorrhoid might come up positive. As for your visit to the hospital, I doubt very much you'll have a general anaesthetic on your first visit. So try and have a good time with your man meanwhile. How about a weekend away now? It would fit in with the gardening better now too. Sending you a big hug and best wishes.

                              • Gosh Snoop-that’s a thought about the first appointment only being a consultation!…I guess Lottie could phone the secretary to ask if that would be the case.
My OH did that once…and as you say, it was just for an initial consultation.

A weekend away sounds great anyway!…might help take your mind off things lottie?
