Lidls still have seeds, compost and containers in stock... can I claim necessity if I buy 10 x 20 litre bags of compost and a loaf of bread? That said they had no bread on my way home from work yesterday so compost and a pack of marshmallows!
- (bad day, so sugar v's alcohol and the sugar won...)
(ps I keep getting the damaged bags of MCP and get 30% off!)V.P.

Well I just braved Aldi for the shopping for two relatives in their 80s. They had texted me rather unspecific lists slowly, in dribs and drabs, bit at a time. I thought I'd leave it till lunchtime as might be quiet. It was. No queue at all. I got most of what they wanted or "similar" substitutes. Some of the things weren't "right" of course but they will definitely not starve for at least a couple of weeks. I did my best. I know they like to shop for themselves normally but between me not knowing exactly what they want and the shop not having all of it's normal range I did struggle a bit.
Please anyone who has got relatives doing your shopping be specific but open-minded to substitutes.

It's not easy buying groceries for others. I was conscious when I was at Sainsburys on Saturday that the restricted numbers meant there was a long queue outside. Looking at my sister's list and trying to decipher what she wanted, where in the store it might be took ages. 'Foil tray of salmon with lemon and herbs' - what does that look like, scanning the shelves. A number of phone calls made....
I imagine it will become easier once I've been a few times, as we're all such creatures of habit she probably wants the same things every week.Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

Be wary of anyone putting '4 candles' on their list ....Originally posted by Babru View Post"I know they like to shop for themselves normally but between me not knowing exactly what they want and the shop not having all of it's normal range I did struggle a bit."

Asda Subs... why would they think subbing Vegan Cupcakes with double chocolate cupcakes is appropriate??? My oldest was quite disappointed. The clue is in the name she goes.. She is dairy and egg intolerant.
I am officially in Shielded group nowby telephone call and letter. We ended up with an extra crate of shopping, and after trying 3/4 hour to get through, got told its ok, you can keep it, we can't take it back due to the virus. Shopping for us plus neighbours, my parents and a stubborn Great Uncle who keeps popping to shop for a paper! Luckily I have my teens and hubby to deliver to them all, then get to have a deep wash or I threaten them with hosepipe.
