  • It’s RAINING !!!!! The first for over three weeks.
Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet

    • Proper rain! Although the odd showers we've had have been appreciated we have actually got proper rain today. (maybe even thunderstorms later. Hopefully I should get a decent amount into the water butts and I'm sure my plants will be sighing in appreciation.

      • All the ironing done.
Nothing left in the ironing pile.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

              • Watching the under 14 girls team playing Hurley (from the warmth and safety of my back room.) Absolutely bucketing it down ( I admit it, I am mean, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves if the screams and shouting are anything to judge!)

Now the match is over and the sun is out... so I am going out into my garden. Only sound out there now are the birds. (regularly getting a lesser woodpecker over the last week. Another thing to smile about.)

                              • Didn't think the melons were doing well at all but I must admit I've been spending the minimum time possible in the greenhouse while it's been hot but today I spotted one hiding that's already tennis ball size.
I also picked the very first pea pod.
