Because the OP is already doing that (although not sure they're blanching, I never do) and wanted alternatives

I 've always blanched (used to work in the Birdseye pea factory in the summer holidays).

You have set me thinking though ....
There's that not-Shakespeare quote:
"To blanch or not to blanch, that is the question"
or those famous songs "Blanching Queen" and "Blanching the night away" or the film "Flash Blanch" (but obviously not "Dirty Blanching") ...
