I've tried snails and frogs legs and I have to say the frogs legs are more enjoyable.
Snails only really taste like the butter they're served in. Frogs legs are like very juicy chicken, but with less flavour. There really isn't much meat on them as you'd expect.

There is indeed edible stuff (food's maybe an exaggeration) all around us. That doesn't mean it's good eating. There's a difference between what you would eat if starving, when anything not actually toxic will help to fill the rumbling gap, and what you would choose to eat and will do you good.
I've eaten chick weed. I picked a bucket full to get a tablespoon for four people. In terms of energy in and energy out it's not really a goer.

I saw Frozen Frogs legs in my local Chinese Supermarket, don't think its for me.

My ex-step-monster lived in France as a young adult and is kind of pro-Frenchy things, but think she liked to shock and show how worldly she was as say 30 years ago, eating snails would just get a look of horror.
(still does now to an extent).

Thinking about it, its an odd choice of food. I'd go for the birds before I started experimenting with snails or frogs, probably more meat and less effort, but I'm no expert in these matters.

Eating snails would get more looks of horror than now? Why would they care? I thought people eat snails in the war.

Not "nice" people like her family.

Never heard of snails being eaten during the war before. But I wasn't born then.

I had eaten a few in my time, especially in Portugal, where they eat a smaller variety. We used to have them as an apero with a few beers.

Not sure about any wars in particular, but I do know that a lot of the French's reputation for eating odd foods is as a result of the Siege of Paris (1870-1871) when supplies ran out they resorted to eating horses, cats, dogs, rats and flowers.
Even Paris's two elephants, Castor and Pollux, were eaten.

                        No idea about snails though.

I buy tiny snail vol-au-vents when peeps come over so they say they have eaten snail!!!!

To be honest- served like that, you'd never know you'd eaten them.
They really are a bit like a rubbery, over cooked mushroom.

If you enjoy Winkles etc then they are a similar texture- but served with garlic butter instead of vinegar.

Would I eat them again??..yes suppose so , but there are plenty of other more yummy things to eat!!
