I've made this cake a few times :-

posted cake crumbs: Apple and Blackberry slice

I've got apples and fruit in the freezer so I can make it through the winter months.

Yes, the old fashioned desserts are the winners in this house - definitely apple pie or crumble! Cook the apples down and freeze if you have too many and you can use later. Mix them up with other fruits for a change. I love apple and raspberry crumble

Apple bread, apple cake, apple muffins?

I often use them as a vegetable to give a nice tang to savoury dishes like curries and stir fries.
I might have got that idea from a trip to Holland many years ago, where people put apples into all sorts of food. For example, this Dutch recipe for a dish called Hete Bliksem in which apples are mashed with potatoes.

    The Dutch Table: Hete Bliksem

Cut them into thin slices and dry them in a food dehydrator. Then you can enjoy the flavour and taste of sour apple all winter long! I know, because I have just done this!

Joking apart, it might be possible to sprinkle the slices with sugar or coat them with honey to make them sweeter. I might even try that myself.

As BM says, but do a trial run with the apples first, prepair a couple and cook in the microwave ,then add a bit of sugar, this will help your taste buds decide,if not apple pies, how about apple sauce, you can then freeze it,the plastic cups are handy for this,as well as small plant pots
