Shwmae! From south Wales x Hello!
My name is Sam, I'm 27 and I am from a little welsh valley near Swansea.
I live with my partner of 9 years Owen, our 7 year old son Benjamin and our 15 month old daughter Holly. I work part time as a sales assistant and my partner delivers courtesy cars for an insurance company.
We recently moved from a horrible council flat into a 'work in progress' 3 bedroom house but we are lucky as it has a lovely garden. My partner has already commandeered his patch for his shed so now I have demanded a vegetable plot :-)
I already have a greenhouse set up (one of the plastic covered tubes) and my garden gets a fair bit of sun all day and has a sun trap near our back door.
I am hoping this year to try and grow as much as I can firstly to help our struggling food budget and secondly show and teach my children where and how they get their food.
I will be looking for plenty of help and suggestions as I am a complete novice to this but have picked up lots of seeds in preparation (yes I checked the dates too) and may also be getting a compost bin from a council scheme and a water butt from freecycle.
I look forward to getting to know you all soon and learning more.
Love
Sam

Welcome to the vine Welshmummy - I am sure you have come to the right place for lots of veggie advice - some of it will be conflicting mind - but also good company and good cheer!

Sorry about this, Welshmummy, we tend to get a bit carried away sometimes!

Thanks you all for the friendly welcome.
I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better.
Taff - my son always tells me being Welsh isnt a nationality, its a way of life. Very profound for a 7 year old if you ask me......
Veggie - we were lucky yesterday but we've had torrential rain the last two days so no doubt my water butt will not be too empty at any point. Besides my house is somewhat on top of a mountain so its like its own little atmosphere up here. Ive know it be snowing on top of the mountain and sunshine in the valley before!
