  • Wheelbarrows

I need to pick the collective knowledge, I require a narrow wheelbarrow, it can't be more than 450mm in width, is there such a thing?

I've typed the usual narrow wheelbarrow in goggle but their definition of narrow is no where near mine.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Would a folding wheelbarrow do? or one of those garden trolleys that you put a crate or a trug on?

I've had a look but got sidetracked on ebay like you do anyway I found these hooks that look handy for carting tools around on your wheelbarrow:-

When #1 son was coming up to his third birthday, we asked him what he wanted. He said a 'bibaara' A what son? Well, he repeated himself endlessly and we still didn't understand him. We had about a week to go to the day and the young 'un was sat watching tv wheh, all of a sudden, he jumped up and was shouting 'Bibaara, bibaara!!'

He was shouting and pointing at the tv and when we looked, there it was, a shiny blue wheelbarrow! Thankfully, his speech has improved since then!

I wish they'd show the wheelbarrow with some point of reference VC, its very difficult to work out how useful it would be.

I have a path through my garden and on the lottie which is only 500mm wide, there's nowt I can do about the width in the garden as there are solid things on both sides. I can't use my wheel barrow through there, which is a pain when I'm transporting wood chippings around the garden. So I was looking for a deep/tall narrow barrow. I wonder if you can get one made?

Mike, I have this thing - converts between a sack truck and a trolley - Its 400cms wide at the most. You could make a box to fit it in the width you want.
Don't ask me where I got it as I acquired it when clearing out someone's garage!!

I don't really think a kid's barrow would be man enough for you

I think I'm going to have to make my own, I like the look of the sack truck VC, but it won't turn a tight corner and I'd struggle on the uneven ground over the lottie.

Now how to make a barrow.....

I had one of those given me Mr Pots repaired the wheels I use it with either a recycling box or large gravel tray on top. Plus the washing basket fit on so its handy when i hang out the washing.

If I were you it would use a conventional sack barrow with pneumatic tyres for that job, like .......

Get an old barrow and whack the sides in narrower?
Take the bin thing off an old barrow and reshape the frame underneath?
                              Imagine you're making a Go-kart/Bogey?
Put the woodchips in a big bag, or trug and carry them.............if too heavy, make two journeys instead of one (that's what we little folk have to do!).
