  • How do you know Christmas is coming?

Apart from the obvious like the shops are full of Christmas stuff these are my 3 infallible indicators that Christmas will be happening soon in our house.

    1. The polish workers across the road from our farm are working from dawn till after dusk in all weathers cutting undecorated Christmas trees for the shops like there's no tomorrow - it's quite a sight!

    2. My mother utters these words "I'm usually further on with the shopping, but this year I'm all behind" (every year without fail)

    3. We start buying biscuits for cheese by the shed load.

    Anyone else got any?

i don't really do christmas at all, so it all just washes over me, but i guess my first notice of it is packaged mince pies because i like eating them scrunched up in vanilla ice cream.

Who makes the polish whilst they are cutting down trees? Does the factory close for a month?

You know Christmas is coming when garden centres have no gardening stuff in them - or they shove it in the smallest corner and look at you as if you are insane for asking where he gardening stuff is.

No, that happens in about August and that's Christmas is ages off then

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

When we have been to Hallowe'en "Owls By Moonlight", and then to the Fireworks display in the next village, then it is time to book our ferry crossing......
We still have (if I havn't left booking too late) the Christmas Special "Owls By Moonlight", with carol singing (accompanied by the Silver Band) mince pie and mulled wine.
Got to decide what to do for my sisters' grandkids this year... think it will be book tokens again, most of the kids I see at most once a year (and some of them not that often).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Not true in ours, Christmas stuff went out end of October. We still have loads of gardening stuff but I confess to being a bit suprised when a lady got a bit irate that we didn't have an oscillating (sp) sprinkler in stock. Thats not cos it is Christmas love it's cos it's November and rainy!

This year I know it's getting near that time when I have glitter in my bra every night after work!
