Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Just think that other people had achieved more this last year but at least Andy Murray didn't win, the man has zero personality Can't really complain anyway as I never vote on these things.

I must be losing it completely - I've never even heard of Jason Button.
I know I don't like sports but I've usually heard of most of them; just because I have 5 live on during the day.
Ummm, I'm guessing it should be Jenson Button the F1 driver.

Aah; see. I'm useless at Sports......and have no desire to change that anytime soon.
Me too, I only follow any sport loosely for more patriotic reasons than anything else. If England/Great Britain are doing well in the tennis, motor racing, football, rugby etc. Then I'll show some support, but otherwise I'm not too bothered.

Possibly not the 3 that I would have voted for, but would disagree totally that the result was "wrong." Its a public vote, the public voted, thus the result was right.
Sports "personality" of the year stopped being so a long time ago, and is much more results based these days, although I would hazard a guess that Giggs' win was more to do with his fantastic longevity and consistent outstanding performances for his club then an individual feat.
I know a lot of people on here aren't sports bonkers like I am, but when the country does well at a sport (think back to the Ashes win 3 or 4 years ago) there is a huge feel good factor that sweeps the nation. Its not something definable, but its definitely something that exists.

Didn't we win the Ashes this year too?! It didn't have quite the impact that it did in 2005 though, which is a shame.
I would have like to see Jensen Button win it and go one better than Lewis Hamilton, he's really had some stick that he didn't deserve this year, but heigh ho. Incidentally, it hasn't been won by a racing driver since Damon Hill, who won it in '94 and '96.
There was only one 'sports personality' in my book, and that was George Best. Anyone else pales into insignificance. Ryan Giggs; personality? Where???????? Did he check it in at the cloakroom???
We did indeed win the Ashes again this year Sarz, huzzah. I think there was such a deal last time because it was the first win in aeons, also this year there was no Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist (I think?) but still a fantastic achievement. Wouldnt have been too bad a result for me if Button had won it, great driver and a great achievement for him.
Your post is exactly my last point Zazen, sports "personality" of the year it no longer is.
There still are personalities in sport, Freddie Flintoff is one that springs to mind, but in todays society they are deemed to be socially unacceptable a lot of the time.
Over here, a lot of the French journo's detest Frank Ribery (a footballer) because he is a proper personality. You ask him a ridiculous question at your peril.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
though...
