  • Garlic flattened

A lot of my garlic in a raised bed has either been flattened by the recent wind and rain or clumsy pigeons what should I do?

Hello Lulu and welcome to the Vine. I think it will probably perk up again on its own once the weather gets better. You could try netting it or putting up a couple of old CD's on poles to scare the pigeons away.

      Thanks ☺
Do you think it would be ok to sow something like carrots inbetween now?

I usually grow carrots with onions/garlic so I can't see why not.

It does depend on how much space you have between your rows and when you expect to lift your garlic. If you have young seedlings growing between your rows they may get disturbed when you start digging your garlic out. A quicker crop might be easier now.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
