Still no rain

Well, the forecast is for rain tomorrow - hope they get it right this time - 3mm in the last 5 weeks isn't much is it ? My beetroot needs lots of rain soon - the tap roots are a ridiculous length already. I dug a hole this morning out of curiosity and the ground is dry to a depth of 7"
Spent this morning lifting the last of my onions - I planted 25kg of sets (variety Jagro) and have been selling since July. Although I won't have totals until they are all sold, I have been selling between 25kg and 50kg per week, with a single order of 160kg thrown in for good measure. At the moment there are onions drying on two roof mounted trays in my store, 20 large crates also in my store, two large drying racks outside by the polytunnel and two pallets in the polytunnel - can't move for onions .
Have four cucumber plants that just refuse to stop producing but I think I'll just take them out this weekend - winter lettuce and radicchio need to go in or they'll get too big for their cell trays.
Spent this afternoon making up my Thursday boxes, taking orders on the phone and serving customers. Got another two veg box orders today so getting closer to my target every week. I now have 35 weekly boxes plus two fortnightly ones.
I have started selling eggs too - 20 dozen per week to local shop and have started offering them to box customers too - will let you know how it goes. However, the search is on for a local supplier of duck eggs - I have a box customer up north (yes I can go further north than I already am) who wants me to find a dozen duck eggs every Tuesday for her. Hens aren't good enough - must be ducks!
