  • Cuttings Swap

Having just swapped some cuttings with Snakeshack, I wondered whether anyone is interested in a Cuttings or seedlings swap. I'm not suggesting something like the VSP, just a swap between individuals, who make their own arrangements about postage etc.
We could list here what we have to swap and see who is interested.
    Waddya reckon?

Good idea VC, I would be interested and can research on the web how to take a cutting from certain things. Do they travel well?

Depends on how well they're packaged Tina I send mine in plastic boxes - of the take away meal sort - inside a padded envelope.
The cuttings could be of anything - eg houseplants, herbs, root cuttings etc. I'm forever turning prunings into cuttings and then don't know what to do with them and I'm sure I'm not the only one!
Stella, we need to build your confidence up with some easy cuttings! Things like mints and rosemary that root in water. So go out into your garden, pick a few pieces of new young growth from the tops of the stems and put them in a glass of water - then wait and see

I had 3 nice rosemary tops in a jug of water as part of a flower arrangement. They were there for at least 2 weeks until they dropped all their spikes, not a root in sight

You're better to pull of sideshoots with a "heel".

You all just need to be aware that as this doesn't follow the seed swap rules of a month plus 50 posts; if anything goes wrong the Mods will not be stepping in to resolve any issues.

Fingers crossed it all goes according to plan.

Thanks Zaz. I was just sounding out whether there was any interest or not as I've been the recipient of cuttings in a swap and it had been suggested that there may be other Grapes who may like to do the same. It could only work on a one-to-one basis and individuals would have to make their own arrangements and sort out any issues. Caveat Emptor and all that
