That's a massive reduction on the gadget Jack. I always dry mine as a Ristra (string 'em up) then crush into flakes, and subsequently grind in a pestle and mortar or in the pepper grinder

Yes it is but still wondering whether the outlay is worth it ( tight as i am ) , trouble is the better half cant stand chillis drying everywhere, shes a tidy freak .

My daughter begs me for a ristra every year because she says it looks trendy hanging in her kitchen!

She can talk the hind leg off a donkey Jack, but I doubt she would change your BH's opinion

I have dried chillies in a dehydrator before and it can get a bit pungent

Dehydrators can be used for drying loads of stuff though so probably a good investment at that price. Thinking about it, I should really use mine a lot more

It looks the same as my Andrew James dehydrator, which works really well for drying chillies. Make sure you do it near an open window though, the fumes make your eyes water.

I've dried chillies (amongst man other things) in my dehydrator. Just sliced them if big and left drying overnight. That said, I've also just left them on the window ledge and that works just as well.

Well there's just the one in this house but I can't fit him in the dehydrator . Alternatively I'll blame stoopid auto correct for editing off the y......

I'm also considering getting one of these for drying fruit and veg this summer. Just so you know there is a very similar one on Ebay for only £21.99 and no postage...

I have one of those and it does work well. Don't believe the instructions where is says 12 hours or 24 hours. Even though I cut the chillies up quite small it still takes 2 days for them to dry out enough to crush.

                              But it's a good buy.
