  • I have never...

My OH (plus many others) thinks I lived a sheltered life as there are many things I have never done. This is best illustrated by the films I have never films. Think of most big blockbuster or 'classic' films and I've probably not seen it

    - Star Wars
    - Jaws
    - Pretty Woman
    etc etc.

It causes him much amusement, but doesn't bother me in the slightest. Just wondered if there are any other people out there who haven't done the things other people think they should have done.

Me and OH grew up in such different fashions. I say I have lived a sheltered life and am happy that way because I have not experienced the violence etc he has (he grew up on a council estate in london) etc etc with the worries he did. Whereas, because of the way he grew up he felt he had to conform. I didnt, and never worried about looking silly so allowed myself to let go of the worry of conforming. For instance there have been several times I have been dressed up in a ridiculous outfit (parrot and alien to name a few) and danced in silly routines in a carnival. One of the best times of my life, however he would never do it because it doesnt conform and what people may say. I think there are so many ways in which you could live a sheltered life. I dont think its bad you havent seen those movies, I refuse to watch anything with blood, gore, horror or anything that invokes hostility and fear and people are always telling me its ridiculous but if you have no interest in them why watch them.

I've never held an I-Pod or MP3 player, I can't stand them tbh.

I've never really moved on since vinyl, I know in theory it's possible to put 1000's of my 33's onto a thing the size of a matchbox, I just wonder why you'd want to do it?

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

Count yourself lucky to have avoided the sentimental rubbish that is Pretty Woman, a truely terrible film

Seen the ones you've mentioned but OH was amused to learn I'd never seen ET.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Don't think I've ever seen it in one go but am pretty sure I've seen it all in the odd 10 / 15 minute bursts that I seem to catch most Christmases

Watched Sound of Music once and that was once too many. Syrupy mishmash. I am trying hard to think of films I have never seen (but should have) take your pick of them all. The first Tatanic had me on the edge of my seat but the remake was laughable. I am no film buff. But I have watched Saving Private Ryan twice.
So in answer to your question "have I lead a sheltered life". The answer is deff no. I have never followed the trend of must have's in fact I regard myself as a trend setter and that role can be a bit scarey at times.

The Sound of Music is hardcore - you lot don't know what you are missing....

I have no idea what I've never done as I kind of switch off when people talk about things that don't interest me - so I never know what I've missed out on - but I have seen Star Wars [at the first screening in the summer of 77], and many many times since...and saw JAWS on pirate video back in the day. As well as many many films that I really shouldn't have seen.
Including Phantom of the Park.....which only those in the know will appreciate

Films, there are plenty I haven't seen (and those I have seen, usually when they are on TV and there is nothing better).
Loads of places I've never been, loads of books I've never read (and never will read probably, the ones that the critics rave about, it puts me off the things).

Would like to go on record as saying Pretty Woman is a classic

Things I haven't done, and have no intention of ever doing include reading War and Peace, parachuting, swim the channel, eat slugs
                    WPC F Hobbit, Shire police

There's loads I have never done, watched, read etc, etc but I did see Sound of Music over and over again in the cinema, I pestered my mum something cronic everytime it did the rounds.

One thing I would love to do is learn to dance, I am always the one sitting out and I dread going to work do's and being asked to dance, I just wish the floor would open up an swallow me.

The Bond films are terrible, but the books are spectacular and should not be missed out on.
