Did anyone else order the "free" (plus P&P) potato patio bag thingy with Charlotte tubers from (I think) January's issue? If so can you remember how many tubers you get in it? Thought I's stick it in the polytunnel and see how early we can be eating new pots!

They always seem to be sold with 5 seed potatoes, I think that's too many for a bag and 3 is about right, so I always wound up with a couple left over ...
Although I did read of planting 3 at the normal position, low down, and the another 2 higher up (about 1/2 way up the bag). Presumably that gives more foliage and smaller, but more, spuds?K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

Agree 5 is probably too many. I had a feeling there were more coming than you can realistically grow in a bag, which is why, when I went and got my selection of earlies tubers from the nursery today, I got 2 pink fir apples. So they'll go in the bag on the patio all summer to hopefully keep them away from the blight down the allotment and Charlotte will go down the allotment with the others.Originally posted by Kristen View PostThey always seem to be sold with 5 seed potatoes, I think that's too many for a bag and 3 is about right, so I always wound up with a couple left over ...
